You dont need to have a best man. You need 2 witnesses. I still had a best man, and bridesmaid even though I got married in a registry office. I also still wore a wedding gown.

It's entirely up to you. If you and your fiancee choose not to bring your own witness, then the registry office will supply people to sign as your witnesses.

No, you don't need a best man, all you need are two witnesses, and that's exactly what my wife and I did when we married.

You do not need one. In case you want to involve him, he can come along as one of the witnesses.

you can if you want to, all you really need are 2 people to be the witnesses and they can even be strangers off the street if you were eloping and had no 1 else

Here in Australia you still need witnessess doesnt have to be known as a best man.Other countries i'm not sure.
