Every Sunday our pastor starts off with a joke. Why? Because when we laugh, it gets our blood flowing and we can listen better.
I think it works. I've been so many times, there wouldn't be room enough on the whole internet to type them all in.

Not too long ago, my pastor (God bless him!) was giving a very impassioned sermon on Christians who fail to draw their comfort from Jesus. He said something like, "we all tend to act like babies ... gimmie this, gimmie that ... denying Jesus' power to comfort us. If we leaned on Jesus instead of being babies crying for our mothers' ti... uh... for a bottle ... we'd be better off."
The worst part is, our sermons are recorded and play on tv stations and Christian cable stations all over the USA and the world, but this wasn't edited out, for some reason.
I know it's peurile, but I still giggle when I think of it!

our pastor when i was a kid, that song "loser" by Beck was on the radio at the time, and our pastor was talking about it and how sad it seemed, and he kept saying "I'm a loser baby...so why don't you kill me", but he said it in a real quiet, sad voice. I always thought it was funny. I don't remember where he went with it.

"We have missionaries down at this moment (forget what country) saving children from hell by bringing Jesus Christ into thier lives" ...that wasn't verbatim, but very close...and thats why I don't go to church.
