The only thing an atheist will not take a leap of faith into is belief in God. Atheists often believe in all kinds of other things that are a matter of faith rather than science.

Yes, to become an atheist, you have to pull your head out of your ar se and leave faith behind. Like the notion of santa claus and the tooth fairy.
It's quite a leap. One that take you away from faith and anything so childish forever.

What is a 'leap of faith' but taking a risk? Doing something when you are not sure what the outcome will be?
Sure, anyone can do that. I think if you hope to accomplish anything of worth in life you have to do that.

Yes. They can have faith in their ability to accomplish something so they take the leap of faith.
Faith and religion are not the same thing.
Religion is faith in God

the phrase "leap of faith" in today's society has lost all religious connatations. Its like the saying in Aust "I'll have a crack".
It just means I'll give it a go and hope for the best.
We use many sayings that would imply religious beliefs but they are only popular sayings. ie "Bloody Hell!" "Jesus Christ!"
I know you'll say thats saying the lords name in vain but at least in Australian no body cares at all.

No. Once you step into faith -- no matter how shaky -- you are no longer an atheist, you are a believer.
