Do people in Heaven just forget about all the people in Hell and just enjoy themselves, or do they simply justify it by assuming that those in Hell brought it on themselves... This does not seem like compassion to me.

The idea that there is somewhere where dead people are tortured forever is a false teaching. The Bible clearly states the condition of the dead. Ecclesiastes 9;5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.
We remain 'asleep' in death until resurrected. Revelation 20; 12,13.
Some religions confuse 'hell' with 'Gehenna'. Gehenna is the second death.
Revelation 20;14 states that 'hell' [ Greek/ Hades] and death will be done away with. So 'hell' must be the condition that accompanies death. Revelation 21;4 states that death will be done away with. So when that no longer happens, then 'hell' will no longer happen, or 'be'. So it cannot be a permanent situation. So from this, we can see that ALL people who die 'go to hell...go to the grave. It is not the literal hole in the ground or even the ocean, but is a 'condition'. A condition thaty can contain billions. It is certainly nopt a place of torment or torture. The moment we die pays for all our sins. Romans 6; 23 For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

That is a good question and one I have pondered myself.

Love in and of itself is heaven. No part of love is in hell. Hell is filled with evil and hate. If you love someone deep enough, it just wouldn't be heaven without them. Love is what saves us from eternal fire. Your love and prayers for a person goes a long way. Just because someone seems like they are not going to heaven by the way they live today is a totally different story as they age tomorrow. Age brings us closer to death and closer to understanding the infinity. Age is wisdom and will change us as we get close to it. Pray for those you love everyday and ask that they be with you in heaven.

i dont think it really is about people forgetting others, it prob more that when they go to heaven people will be more like spiritual beings where the boundaries of family friends etc are broken and the people who surround you are now your loved ones, the people in hell will be viewed as paying for their sins for the wrong choices they made while on earth e.g. do you feel compassion for a murderer who is in jail for life? only a person who has the tolerance for sin will feel sorry for them and i suspect when in heaven there will no lonnger be that same tolerance for sin we have now.

There is no fiery burning HELL. The Hebrew word "Sheol" translated hell in the Bible means “the grave,” that is, the common grave of all dead mankind. The Bible is very clear in stating that the soul is subject to death, saying: “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4, 20) Also, The Catholic Douay Bible, at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, says: “The living know that they shall die, but the dead know nothing more. Neither have they a reward any more: for the memory of them is forgotten. Whatsoever thy hand is able to do, do it earnestly: for neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge, shall be in hell [Sheol, AS], whither thou art hastening.” So, since the “dead know nothing more,” or as the King James Version says, “the dead know not any thing,” it would be impossible for them to know conscious torment. And since there is no work in hell, how can there be activity, red-hot or otherwise?

HEAVEN is where God and his faithful spirit family dwell. These are not creatures of blood and flesh, for they were created before our earth was created upon which we creatures of blood and flesh now live. Those heavenly “sons of God” are spirit, as God himself is, and they are absolutely distinct in nature from us earthly human creatures.

Heaven is also the seat of God's Kingdom (government). Those relatively few from the earth who go to heaven will have a specific purpose there. The Bible tells us that " ... they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years.”—Revelation 20:4-6. Compare also (Rev. 5:6-10) This will benefit all mankind.

God created man from the earth to live on the earth. He did not create humans to live for a little while here on earth then go to live in heaven. Although we all grow old and die now because of Adam and Eve's rebellion, God’s original purpose for the earth will still be fulfilled. In the beginning it was God’s purpose for obedient humans to live forever in an earthly Paradise. And God never fails to accomplish what he purposes! His Word plainly promises: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.”—Psalm 37:29.

For those of us who have lost loved ones, we have the very real hope of the resurrection and the opportunity to see our loved ones again right here on a paradise earth. The Bible tells how Jehovah will bring this about.

We will only know when WE get to heaven. So let us try to get there ansd see what we feel about the less fortunate. Don't ask hypothetical questions that might lead you astray.
Whether we are compassionate or not will not make a difference there because we are not the ones who decide who should go where. It is for God to decide and even if we feel compassionate it is not for us to choose what is to happen to our loved ones. So what is the use of thinking about it?

I'm pretty sure the traditional definition of Heaven is the place with all the eternal bliss...if you're upset and not blissful, you're not in Heaven.
