I mean specific things like where should we live, who to marry, what job etc. If so how does He tell us?

GREAT QUESTION!

God tells us a GREAT deal of things. The way he conveys his message, in my experiences, is through "leading" us and through encounters/situations.

As long as you are sold out to God, and intent on his will being done, he will let that will manifest itself in your life!

Sometimes, it can be almost as blatant as being told. For instance, you pray for guidance on when the best time to confront someone about something. Then, through a series of events, you end up confronting them in a way you never would have imagined, and it works out better than you could imagine. In retrospect, you realize that you're being open to God's will allowed you to be in the right place at the right time. It wasn't spoken to you in your ear as humans understand it, but it was spoken in your heart to be open and to allow yourself to be a vessel.

God speaks to you through the bible in no uncertain terms. That's the communication that most people say "doesn't exist". Now, this has to be interpreted in your life to mean something specific to you, and that's where being open to God and being prayerful results in the example above. But yes, he says "do not unequally yoke your oxen", for instance. Boom. Words on paper. Interpret as your relationship with God dictates (not as someone else in this world would).

God speaks, but not like people expect him to. God is greater than all people, so he will never be restricted to what our simple minds want or expect.

There is a story in the bible about listening for God's voice (1 Kings chap 19), listed as a source. God speaks, but not in the way we always expect.

Some people feel that God has called them to a certain place for a reason. Example, about a year ago our pastor and his wife were given many words from God through various people that they were to move to a new town and plant a new church. They did, and about 40 other adult members of our church also felt called to move, which they have. I would always pray before making a decision about moving or changing job, and I expect God to guide me if it's important that I choose one thing over another. God has told me through others that I will speak the gospel, but he hasn't said when, so I just go on in faith that He will give me the power when the time is right.

Well that depends on your personal religion. In the bible it tells you not WHERE to live but HOW to live and a good person. Some people belive they recieve signs from God as to whether they should accept a certain job, or move to a certain place. He does however tell you what kind of person you SHOULD marry in the bible. But the actual person is up to you. God does not want to make all your decisions for you that is why we have free-will, but there are most definitely guidelines and pointers on how to live in the bible, and what he expect out of you as a person. I think you got alot of soul searching to do, but a question like that is never stupid.

Yes. through the Bible. Matthew 28;19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”
To obey this requires that you gain a very thorough knowledge of the Bible. Nowhere does the Bible say that that a disciple HAS to attend a theological college and get a diploma. All it takes is study. And then effort to copy what Jesus did. Acts 20;20 while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house.

Some things are specific, some things are general and some things are left up to you.

God or Guardian Angels nudge or provide an inclination or make you have to turn your head to see something. Then it's up to you to see it and act on it!

Sometimes your stomach gets queezy.

Sometimes, possibly for a reason, God lets you fall flat on your face.

Now for the segue:

And to all the tea-totalling Christians, Jesus and his Disciples were wine drinkers and got royally plastered at the last supper. Jesus begged God to take the cup away from him and God refused!

Why does man want to take the cup away? We aren't supposed to be drunk all the time, but wine is a part of the Jewish rituals and Jesus was Jewish and at Passover you drink 24 ounces of 12% sugary wine!

Where Christians get the idea you're not supposed to drink alchol is beyond me, especially since those elders back then ate greasey lamb and it's being shown that red wines cut plaque caused by greasey meats.

Maybe God was teaching man to balance things out? Teaching man to lessen heart disease.

I just don't get religions that want to take all the elements of the Last Supper out of the Last Supper. They'd deny Jesus his drink, his blood. It was WINE that was his blood, not grape juice or water! This WINE is his blood.

Don't you commune?

Take the cup away from Jesus and you change history! Jesus demanded -- DEMANDED we follow this tradition each year! You don't follow the commandement of Jesus?! You exercise YOUR concept of GOOD and EVIL and replace the wine with grape juice?! That's man's doing, not God's doing! God made Jesus keep and drink the cup! Jesus wanted us to expeience it and remember it!

This is, of course, a segue.

No, from my experience, He doesn't tell us specific things like that. More frequently, He kind of arranges for them Himself. You won't get accepted at a job you shouldn't have. The deal won't go through for the house you shouldn't buy, and so on.

God through his commandments given through Moses tells us the way to serve him, and the safest way to live.
Granted they were given at a time when life was simpler and they don't seem to apply all the time, but examined closely, you can see common sense in them and they are not out dated.
And remember he created Jesus to help us to understand.
Jesus lived among us and explained what he expects us to do.
Individually, prayers to Jehovah through Jesus are heard and although you may not understand where the answers come from, he sends help in various ways. Just look for people to provide some comfort in unexpected ways, and respond to it. Repeat your prayers often until you see a better life opening up. And never forget to thank God for the answers. (A little praise for him helps among all the begging.)

God's basic "telling us what to do" is the Ten Commandments.

When asked which was the most important, Jesus said, "Love the Lord, thy God, with all your heart, soul, and mind and love thy neighbor as thyself. This sums up the Law....."

If you make your life choices within the parameters of these words, God is telling you what to do and you are listening.

God is the power in life .If u believe in him, then the power works in all sorts of ways for you.
If you don't then all the laws are man made.So how do you know whom to believe? Also how about trying out astrology and horoscopes? They are also man made and mathematical. The specifices are all worked out.Have fun.

I prefer to believe i make up my own mind.

Besides if He is telling us who to marry that must make God a solicitor with the amount spent on divorce.
