There is an amazing ammount of misinformation here. Why doenst anybody LOOK UP answers?

Fever is defined as a cental body temperature (oral or rectal) over 100.4 degrees F or over 38.0 degrees Centigrade. 98.6 degrees F is only tha average body temperature.

If you do not have a temperature above this, you do not have fever. BUT, if you feel warm, your body temperature may be HIGHER THAN NORMAL FOR YOU without being a fever. Any illness that can cause fever can cause one of these sub-fever temperature elevations.

Skin temperature is very dependent on exposure, drafts, clothing and muscular work- it is not reliable in determining if fever is present.

Fever, by definition, is an increase in the body's internal temperature. In other words, there can be no fever without an increased temperature. Your friend should see a doctor.

Your friend can not possibly have a fever without a temperature.

Anything over 98.6 is considered a fever......
