The Catholic Church acknowledges that humans are sinners and they will commit sins no matter how strong they are (because no human aside from Jesus (and arguably Mary as well) is without sin). So considering that sinners will and do commit sins, wouldn't the Catholic Church do well to say "If you do commit the sin of premarital sex, then in that case unprotected sex is a greater sin than protected sex.". I think this would be more productive than a total ban on birth control. Am I wrong?

Now that is like telling your teenage daughter I know you won't but if you do.... They take it like you are giving them permission.Would you tell your son "You shouldn't go burn down houses, but if you do...Or you shouldn't do drive bys, but if you do.....Sorrry but to me that gives children ideas and in a way it makes it ok.

/releas I am not catholic, and do not belive everything the catholic church teaches. most notebly that man canot stop sinning /end releas

The bible sayes that every sin is equal. If you commit murder or if you lie, you broke the Law. And by breaking it you are guilty of the penelty that is associated with it. The penelty of sin is Death. If the sin is murder, or a simple lie, the penelty is the same. So there is no distincion bewteen sins. Therefor you can't pick a greather or lesser sin, since they both have the same penelty according to the bible. Also the catholic church isn't just baseing no condoms strictly on no premartial sex. Else they would allow condoms for married couples. They are baseing it on a old testament law that stated that no sperm of a man should touch the ground (summerized). Also you get into other debatable moral questions with birth controll pills. The catholic church decided what side they are a long time ago. If they changed now they could be called hypocrits. Since the Pope is suppose to be the voice of God, and God doesn't change. He can't change his opinion to much.

Also, not all people have premartial sex. I am 24 years old, not married, male, and a virgine. By choice.

In a way I agree with u, having protected sex will help u avoid using drugs to control birth which is better than taking this which could damage vital organs in the system. Since premarital sex cannot be avoided or stopped the church should start telling people about the need for protected sex. They should not look at the negative side it is a way of saving people's life

Sex outside of the committed marriage is the sin and not birth control itself.

God did not ban man and woman from consumating their marriage or to enjoy the art of love making / or of showing love towards one another within the marital union.

He made us to procreate but God also knows that it would not be using wisdom to have 10 children because you are not control the love you have for your husband/wife.

How about we all stand up as one voice, as our American forefathers did (but for slightly different reasons), and say loudly and proudly, "WE BELIEVE IN THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND SEX!" There. Now the church can deal with controlling the masses by fear (OK, not all churches do that) and those in the health and social service professions can tell us about birth control. Talking to a nun about how to properly roll on a condom gives me the willies (no pun intended).

Because it suppose that the purpose of sex is producing a new life according to Catholic Church doctrine. There is forbidden sex before marriage, that's fornication according to this doctrine.
Both things are forbidden:
1.-Birth control
2.-Sex before marriage
But you are not very informed because there are birth control methods which are allowed.
I would need to look my sources, I will attach them later.

Well, why take the catholic church for law? My church says nothing about birth control.

All of us sin, so don't take what the church says too seriously. Get over it. I wish I would have sooner.

The church won't allow people to make their own decisions because that would mean losing its power over them.
