THe collar itself seems to be pulling out his fur, not the pup, I switched to a choke collar and that helps but I am afraid to put his tags on that type of collar.

White Pine Outfitters makes very soft, smooth web collars. They don't even wear the fur on my Keeshond and I have recommended them alot.

Do a search for them.

How about having him checked by a vet to see why? A Shar Pei should not be pulling on the fur without some type of skin problem and a ver should be able to clear it up.

I swear some people don't know how to read.. She said the collar was pulling the hair not the dog..

Try a rolled leather collar. The will not rub or pull the hair.
http://www.dresslersdog.com/Collars06.html it's the 5th one down, green.. They are very reasonable on that site but you can do a google search to find more. Usually you can pick them up locally as well.

Shar Pei's have allergies espically in the summer. My Shar-pei is shedding badly right now I try to bathe him and put creme rinse on him to condition the skin. My Shar-pei (Droopy)has lost alot of his hair because of allergies, I try to keep him in the garage when I can and give him alot of water, and plenty of food and treats. Try getting a shampoo that helps with skin conditions, and just love him. If it doesn't start to clear up in a week take him to a vet. As far as a colar , don't get a leather colar, it seems to irritate them, Droopy only uses a colar when he goes for walks

i don't like the choke collars, yet I have had domestic dogs that i got here around the choke or pinch collar made them a lot less puzzling to regulate until eventually they discovered perfect leash etiquette. I have got here across with my "quick novices" that i do not prefer to apply them. initiate out with an time-honored collar or a harness to work out how he reacts to that formerly utilising the choke or pinch collar. i in my opinion have got here across that a harness works more desirable at the same time as starting up leash education than an time-honored collar. It provides me extra administration and at the same time as/if the pup pulls, the rigidity is allotted by it is chest particularly than round it is neck. maximum of my more desirable breed domestic dogs (I at present have an American Bulldog) take to the harness quite genuinely and my pup wears hers each and each of the time now.
