If it separates you from God, it's a sin. You have to ask Him in any particular instance whether someting is sinful or not. If it is, say sorry and move back.

A sin always starts in the heart. That's what Jesus said. Read your bible. If you go by it, you can't go wrong and you won't have to wrestle with temptation and evil thoughts.

Sorry to disappoint you, but according to the church, thinking of committing a sin is just as bad than actually committing it. But don't worry, people do it all the time, and if your not religious, than it's not a big deal! But try to stick to your girlfriend!
