Tom, you say that the unborn child "couldn't survive on its own so abortion isn't murder." A six-month-old born baby couldn't survive on his or her own, either! Left alone, they would die. Does this mean it is okay to kill them?
You also state that the "embryo or...very young foetus...isn't alive yet." This is simply not scientifically correct. At all stages the embryo or fetus is alive and growing. If it were not, there would be nothing to kill. By the time most women find out they are pregnant (three weeks after conception), the child's heart is already beating. Most abortionists will not commit a surgical abortion before seven weeks, due to the risk of "incomplete abortion" (parts of the baby left inside the womb, with the potential to cause infections as they rot). By this point, the child has arms and legs and recordable brain waves.
Abortion is far more traumatic to the woman (or child) who has been raped than giving birth. In a study of such women, NONE of the women who chose to give birth regretted their decision, while MOST of the women who aborted regretted it. A woman who aborts becomes an aggressor, hurting another innocent person the way the rapist hurt her. The knowledge of what she has done will haunt her long after she has healed from the rape.
Abortion is more dangerous than childbirth. In abortion, the cervix (which is tightly closed to protect the child) must be brutally forced open, at which point sharp instruments are introduced. Abortion is known as a "blind procedure." The abortionist cannot see what he is doing and may not only puncture the uterus, but the bowel and bladder as well. Contrast this to childbirth, in which the cervix opens gradually and the child passes from the womb naturally.
People with brain damage are not less worthy of life than the rest of us. Using your logic, we should just take a gun and shoot every mentally handicapped person in America. Just explain to them that YOU think they have an "appalling standard of life" and I'm sure they would understand, right?

Abortion is not taking a life - with the exception of late-term which is just sick I'll admit. At early sages, abortion is the removal of an undeveloped cluster of cells which, because they cannot survive apart from the mother, could technically be considered a parasite - just because the parasite was quasi-intentional (or subsequential) doesn't change it's biological function at the time and that is to survive off of the mother. For this parasite to actually BE considered a child it would depend on the *real* intention of the mother to risk her health, life, career, etc. (pregnancy is always dangerous) to see her pregnancy in that light and eventually deliver said child. If there are more cons to proceeding to term than there are pros, isn't it better to prevent a mutually negative situation for mother and potential child by having a pregancy terminated before it actually BECOMES a child and a problem for both?
Because a woman chooses to remove a tiny cluster of cells that risk their wellbeing from their body does not mean she is taking a life, although I will grant you it could be argued that she is preventing it. But as I recall, up until recently, Xtianity at large didn't advocate the use of birth control (some denominations still don't) on that very basis. Seriously, what is the basis of the anti-contraception argument? I'll tell you! It's to perpetuate their kind! Chrsitianity is dying out and the leaders want everyone to have as many children as they can. Power in numbers people! I can't tell you how many girls I know who, if abortion were made illegal, would still be pregnant every 10 months! Simply banning it is not a deterrent to the risky behaviors that cause unwanted pregnancy in the first place! And usually people who engage in these behaviors are not particularly pious - but even that becomes irrelevant because it's not fair to fight faith against logic anyway.
PS: Jesus is OK - he promoted tolerance and he helped a lot of people! Your website should really be 'saynotochurch.com!'

Your examples are less than 1% of abortions. As far as the homeless girl that got raped, it sounds like her life is already ruined and any church in the world would take her in which would make her life better and find her child a family . I am not Christian or any other religion and I do not believe in hell but when I hear pro-choice propaganda I wish there was. Abortion is always wrong, no exceptions, any moral person can see this, you do not have to be Christian. A nine month inconvenience is not ruining your life and is not an excuse for murder. If you can't handle having children then give it up for adoption. By the way I am voting for Billy. R. I. H. rot in you know the rest.

The simple fact is, abortions are wrong. No matter if you are Christian or not. No one has the right to take anothers life.
You talk about a child that is brain damaged, and their poor standard of life. Well should we just kill all mentally disabled people??? Yes, it is the same. Babies are human beings with the right to live, just the same as you and me.
You talk about a girl that has been raped. If she doesnt want the baby, there is always adoption. It is not the childs fault what happened to the mother or for the actions of the childs father. Abortion is punishing the child. You are not punishing the rapist.
You talk about a young girl on the street with barely enough money to feed herself. Here is just another case for adoption. There are many families out there that cannot have children and would love to take the child. You don't have to kill the child because the mom doesnt have money. How ignorant. If the young mother is so worried about this, quite frankly, "close your legs"!!!
This all has nothing to do with Jesus. It has to do with morals. You are not God, who gave you the right to choose who lives and dies!

LOL a 14 year old girl living on the street has already ruined her life. That appropriate questions is, should she be allowed to ruin another life?
Nope.
I currently have a 6 month year old baby but when I was younger I had 2 girls that got abortions. It makes me very sad to know how amazing my baby is and what the others could have been like.
I think the principle behind the church not supporting abortion is to help people from feeling this awful.

UR I think missing the point.
Getting brownie points with UR own God by telling some1 else how 2 live their life, shouldn't B high on their agenda
I'm considered Christan but not part of any of Organised Religious Groups & Abortion is a private matter 4 the mother & has nothing 2 do with me!
Making Life is a gift & should not B taken lightly.
Quality of life should also B a contributing factor when thinking of these poor mites born in2 pain/heartache.
Me personally, I'd save the child from being born in the first place.
This planet is far over-crowded now.

sad to base hate on a fictitious imaginary question.
Since we are talking what if's how about this.. maybe this was your mother, maybe she wasnt raped, maybe she ran away because she had sex with her boyfriend who said its ok your not going to get pregnant. maybe she didnt think her parents would understand.
The point here is you can make up stories to show drama to make those who believe look bad but it changes nothing. The only thing that will rid the world of situations where people feel they have to make bad choices is when people dump the hate they have that is more fictitious then the lifestyle that promotes goodness.
Personally I feel your hate is misdirected for what reason I have not a clue. Your hating ideas that try to improve life because the world is full of hate and we can not fix it in the blink of an eye. If you open your eyes and see that christains or any religious people are not trying to sell you into anything but trying to help the world remove the sin of man, regardless of how you or others may see us is we are not here to control you or to force you to do anything but we are only here to spread a good message and we have people kicking us and disrespecting what we believe in and placing all the bad things in our laps as if we are the cause of the problems. The problem my friend is hate - this hate that is misdirected that can not for a second listen because your hate will not allow you to. No body is telling you that you have to follow our faith but why would you bash that which you clearly can not believe in? Say no to Hate

If it was just the 14year old homeless rape victims and the mothers of handicapped babies getting abortions, I wouldn't argue with you. However, these are the exceptions, I'm afraid.
I know a girl who had 4 abortions already, simply because she's too lazy to practice birth control.
A fetus is very much alive, by the time it is 3months old, it already has hands and feet and it can move.
I suggest you check out this link and look at some pictures:

You picked only 2 small examples of why abortion should be lega. One the homless girl could go to the hospital.....they are required to help her deliver and she could give the baby up for adoption. ...Problem one solved........Problem two. the Mental ill child.......How do you know what his/her life will be like. Maybe they will be happy...maybe not but what gives a person IE the mother to judge weather a life should be. Would you be able to kill your neighbor if you think he does not have the quality of life you think he should have? Abortion is murder just as if you killed him/her when they were grown up. I as a cristian do not think abortion should be illegal. Just never happen unless the mother's life is in danger. And that only happens 1 out of every 5000 births.

First of all, if you intend to be taken seriously in your weak argument, I would greatly consider learning to spell and use correct grammar. What are you in third grade? It is no wonder you are so weak-minded. I can tell by your non-sequitest babbling that I would never agree with anything you have to say but I would say there are circumstances in which I believe God would justify an abortion. You need not classify this question as why do Christians not believe, for non Christians have been known to be on the pro-life circuit as well. Know your Facts.
