While waiting to deliver my baby in January, I'm planning to live in an apartment around Los Angeles area. What's a nice, safe area for a woman to live on her own for three months? It is Importamt to have easy access for walking around, daily shopping, food, restaurants. I will also have my own car

If you want to stay in the LA area, that's relatively safe and quiet, try the South Bay. I grew up in the Redondo Beach area and its quiet and there's a lot of shops.. particularly the farmers markets and you have the Galleria Mall. The area closer to the PV Peninsula has the Rivera Village.

There's a lot of fairly safe places around LA, but what you DON'T want is Compton, Inglewood, Watts and just in general anywhere near or in South Central! If you stay on the West side you should be fine.

I think the first poster was referring to Costa Mesa. It's cheaper than Newport but close. But the Newport Beach area is about an hour (or more with traffic) from Los Angeles. i grew yup in Newport and went to college in Malibu. Worked downtown LA for many, many years.

If you have the bucks, I'd say Newport Beach.... low crime, nice walking around, even a commuter bus to LA, some small cities around there are nice too. Newport itself is very pricey, but there's another place that's basically a part of Newport (forget name) that's cheaper but still quite nice. I'd stay away from Riverside, but Newport beach in Orange county is pretty awesome. beaches, parks, etc. Hope baby and you both do well.

If you can find a place near downtown Burbank, you'd be set. They have a lot of shops, movie theaters, markets, and a mall. My single mom raised us there, and it's a very nice, friendly, quiet community. Plus, it's reasonably priced compared to the west side of Los Angeles.
How exciting for you! Good luck! :)

searching even a respectable position to stay in la county isn't likel for 250,000$ till you purchase a small a million mattress apartment. that's troublesome to locate any respectable position to stay in or close to la for below $500,000. per chance you should judge an apartment. good success
