Around 2 litres & yes, as long as it's liquid it's fine. But don't overdo it on the alcohol. Drink too much & you could make yourself ill but in the warm weather you obviously have to drink more than usual because you will be sweating.

It is actually a mute point whether we really need to drink eight glasses a day - and it certainly depends on other factors - I am a large person living in sticky humid Southern China - I probably do need to drink the often quoted eight glasses a day. If I was a skinny guy in Oslo - maybe not so much.

However while the liquid in diet sodas is mainly water - there is also plenty of other junk in there as well. If you are drinking eight glasses of a drink containing artificial sweeteners, colours, flavours, stabilisers antioxidants etc. - there might in the long run be other health issues. Even Coca- Cola Inc. would not expect people to be drinking fifteen litres of diet Cola a week. So one or two glasses a day would be OK - but maybe not more - just to be on the cautious side.

Alcohol is a ridiculous idea - for each fluid ounce of alcohol you drink your body has to urinate eight fluid ounces of water to get rid of it - hence dehydration and hangovers. Alcoholic drinks therefore will NOT be part of your daily intake but actually be one of the factors requiring your water intake to be increased.

At least 8 glasses a day or one and half litres or possibly two or more in very hot weather. Sugar Free pop destroys your teeth and does not count towards your water for the day. It will dehydrate and make you more thirsty. It will also make you crave carbs and sugary foods. My advice would be to avoid all fizzy drinks. ones with artificial sweetners in have been linked to brain tumours.

It's good if you drink about 1.5 litres of water (depending on weight & other factors, and how much other liquids you drink).

I do not recommend sugar-free sweet things, unless they are imperative (as for diabetics). The sugar substitutes used (unless it's honey, and they don't use that for products, you can just use it for your own substitute), so, the other substitutes are very bad for the overall health, they are based on _coal_ processed and stuffed with a huge amount of chemistry... and there are serious doubts that they may heighten the risk of you getting cancer. Not good.

If it's pure then 8 glasses, if mixed with liquor around 2 larges at a time, if it's juices then a glass an hour. If anything else-please state to calculate. By the way is the water scarce at your place to measure and drink?

You should drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day, depending on the temperature and your bodyweight.

If it is hot, you should also take salt and minerals. Water may be in any form, of course, but should not contain too much alcohol!

In the Army, I always heard it like this: Whatever your weight in POUNDS, you should be drinking HALF that number in OUNCES of water each day. It cannot include sugar-free sodas... just water.

For example, if you weigh 180 pounds, you should be drinking 90 ounces of water each day. It may seem like a lot, and it probably is a lot for just a regular day... we were pretty busy in the Army.

Winter, I drink over 8- 8oz glasses of water, and in the summer over 3 gallons... no pop...check the sodium content. It will cause you to hold fluids.

Many people still say 8 glasses a day (or even more!). YOU DON'T NEED THAT MUCH WATER!!

It's a myth! BOGUS advice. Just an old wives' tale. Urban legend.
