I may be saving power, but is it reducing the efficency of the appliance? Need to know!

No problem. You can unplug as often as you'd like. You are saving a tiny bit of money. Most appliances use some energy when plugged in. You can also buy a meter that you can plug the appliance into to see how much power it uses when it is not running. Here is an example:

I would figure it costs about 12 cents per mega watt hour. So if the reading is 10 watts. It would cost you almost 3 cents per day to leave the microwave plugged in. Can you afford that?

10 watts X 24 hours /1000 (Watts per megawatt) * .12 = .028

Not really but in some cases, you're just waisting more power turning an appliance on and off instead of just letting run

by swiching your power on and of is actually not saving it as it takes so much to start it agin and it is also not good for the appliance, however with computers it is best to keep it on and running just turn the monitor off.

No. The appliance is built pretty robust.
