I really don't get this issue. I heard one of the ladies that had like 5 or 6 babies, say that when they were given the option to have a "selective" reduction that they didn't want to play God. Yet isn't it kind of playing God, to have ivf, and other procedures done when you can't have babies?
I'm not a huge abortion advocate, but I do believe in freedom of choice. But I really don't get the difference. I mean yeah one is technically killing, but how is creating damaged life any better?

*sigh* I am not looking for a debate soley on abortion. I want to know why one is different? How is creating a damaged life a good thing? I mean not all kids born through "alternate" methods are damaged, but many are. Especially in the case of multiples.
If your going to play God and create life, why can't you play God and end it? Either way your playing God.

Many pro-life people ARE against IVF and other assisted reproduction techniques. See, for example:

you must be naive to even ask a Qs like this. Do you feel it right to take a life if so then there is no point in discussing further.
Do you think just by taking some ones life you can become god or by giving ivf and having a baby makes you god
well you get this clear that a doctor or a couple can only join the sperm with the egg but they do not have the control on its life and growth. No matter how hard you try if god does not want you you will never have children but he has given you the clean choice to take anybodies life he will never interfere. That is just testing you how far you can go. At the same time god has given you the choice of preventing a birth by control but once it is conceived you have no right to take its life.

Abortion is wrong no matter how one puts it. As soon as a baby is created in the womb it has a heart beat. I do not understand how one can take a life, just because they don't want the responsibility. I don't want to be the one that has to stand before God on judgment day for taking the life of one of his. Children are his they are only loaned to us by him.

Hey little mr say no to Jesus,
I would hope that with a name taking that strong of a stance against Jesus you would have at least read the bible. You claim, as the usual person ignorant of the bible, that there are so many contradictions in the bible. FALSE. If you would actually read this book you are so against, you would clearly see that the bible, read in it's enitrety, contains absoultely zero contradictions. You might also learn that the bible has many contributors spanning many years and experiences.

If a woman isn't pregnant, the extremists can't control her or a couple's life. By forcing their religious views into law, they can dictate how people live.
Once they get their way on abortion, they'll move onto other sexual or marriage issues, eg. "no recreation, only procreation", or mercenaries - oops, missionaries - whose position is enforcing the missionary position.

I can't help you as I am a Catholic and we do not believe IVF or many other types of methods should be used either. We do not play God.
Peace be with You,

Invetro fertilization is a good thing. Lets people have children that are not able naturally to have a child. As for abortion , think of it this way, If your mother had on you could even have asked this quesion ?

Interesting question. In-vitro fertilization and surrogate pregnancy provide babies to middle-aged wealthy people who want children. Abortion provides relief to poor women of all ages who don't want or can't afford a child, or another child. Looks like a class thing to me.
