Arm and Hammer with baking soda worked for me.
But can't say for definate if it is the best.

It comes down to personal preference because whitening toothpastes will only remove surface stain. IF you are looking to actually change the color or shade of your teeth, you need to use either the Whitestrips style available over the counter, or the more powerful dentist prescribed whitening systems. These are either done in office or trays are made for you to do it at home.
Toothpastes are made to help clean the teeth and make your breath smell fresh, so go with whatever you like personally!
If you care to know, I am in love with the Crest Whitening Plus Scope. If you have sensitive teeth there is a Crest Sensitivity whitening plus scope too!

Beware of whitening toothpastes. There are generally 2 types:
1) Abrasive - these contain a substance which will act like sandpaper and remove enamel from your teeth
2) Colourant - These toothpastes contain a dye that actually make the gums look redder, therefore giving the impression that the teeth are getting whiter, whilst having no real effect on the teeth at all. Interesting, hey?

bleach combined with sand + gravel...this is guaranteed to get rid of coffe and tobacco stains.
