because the red colour has lowest wavelength and so it covers the largest distance and bends the least compared to other colours of spectrum ...this is why red colour is used in traffic lights, airport towers etc etc so that it can be easily seen over long distances!!! hope u had ur query solved!!!(and the person who has said above that red colour has higher frequency, let me pls tell that frequency depends on the source of light so it will be same for all colours!!!)

Red light, Danger Will Robinson. All things you should stop for are red. It is the best visible color as it is opposed to green (the most common color).

Actually red is one of the LEAST sensitive colors to humans. Blue is actually better if you want to get someone's attention.

So the deal is red lights help keep us from losing our night vision.

In 2003 ROSPA cautioned in a document that breakdown and works autos might want to be allowed to coach purple and amber flashing lights to the rear to tell apart them from the emergency provider who use purple and blue. i'd assume that an modification has been made to the regulation to allow this to ensue as previously it became unlawful for autos except emergency ones to coach purple flashing lights to the rear.

I read somewhere that red is the only color that shows up in the rain or fog.
