My g/f is on the points system, which she loves as she can eat whatever she wants, up to a certain number of points.
Ie she can eat a chocolate cake, but that would use most of her points, so she would only eat veggies for the rest of the day!!
She has lost almost 2 stone so far.

Any diet that makes you reduce your calorie intake below the level that you use from day to day will work to lose weight. But remember that some form of exercise (worth speaking to your doctor) can only help the process. The weight watchers diet is also a safer diet than many because it encourages you to eat a varied and balanced diet - suitable for weight loss and maintenance of target weight and it makes you think about your eating habits.

Also remember you put on weight because of your previous lifestyle. This changing your diet and watching what you eat must be a lifestyle change - i.e for life - else you will bounce back to your old weight if you return to your old habits - and then some .. Don't be a yo-yo - change for life. No such thing as a short-term solution to weight loss and maintenance.

ANY diet plan will work, for a time period...

its continuing the discipline to stick with it!!!

many diets, consist of bland, uninteresting, and tasteless foods!!!

the BEST DIET, is NO DIET AT ALL... just DISCIPLINE yourself, to EAT 5 small meals a day; and LOTS and LOTS of LEAFY GREEN, RAW VEGETABLES... limit your intake of sugar and saturated fats... eat, most of your food during the daytime, and nothing but water after 6:00pm

ALSO, find a friend, and go on walks around the block... start with 5 minutes, and gradually increase your excercise plan to an hour a day... every OTHER day!!!

weight watchers, basically DISCIPLINES YOU to DO THINGS in MODERATION!!!

you PAY $5.00, each time you go to GET WEIGHED!!!

and, your either BUY their already prepared foods, or make your own, using their books and weight watcher's magazine!!!

it's an EXPENSIVE proposition... an EASIER ONE might be to JOIN OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS... it's FREE, you DON'T HAVE TO BUY ANY PREPARED DIET FOODS (o.a. says, "diets DON'T WORK"!!!, DISCIPLINE DOES!!!)

good luck!!!

I am a "LIFETIME MEMBER" of Weight Watchers.
It is a "GREAT' AND SAFE WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT AND VERY SUCCESSFUL! I lost over
50+ pounds on the Weight Watchers plan.
It is important though to go to the meetings if at all possible as they really keep you motivated!
GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN DO IT!!

I tried the WW diet years ago and it did not work for me. I ended up losing some weight initially but then I gained back more than I lost. I do not diet anymore for this reason but aim to eat sensibly and not ban any foods.

Yes , i lost 18 pounds.

It really does help you realise what you are putting in your mouth as you count everything. drink lots of water make sure it is your 8 glasses and make sure you eat fresh fruit and veg at least your 5 a day. I lost the most when i drank water and ate the 5 a day. The weeks i didnt i only lost half a pound or stayed the same.
