Simple...uninstall Norton and dont use it again...ever!!...Its resource intensive, cumbersome and not worth the effort, instead get; avg(free edition) for anti-virus, Zone alarm for your firewall and a program like ewido for anti-spyware..all free and run independantly of each other so if one gives you problems the other two are still running.
I've used this combination for a while now and managed to keep my pc nasties free and no problems with the programs either... make sure you choose the free editions...good luck!

I had mega trouble with Norton and I went into the control panel and reset my settings back to a week. Worked for me. I'm sure there are other answers in cyberspace. Try them!! One of them should solve your problem.

If it truly is XP professional, you may pick to no longer anticipate it is an endemic, yet see what the approach is putting on... one way you should attempt it truly is to click on start up, goto administration panel, then to Administrative equipment... Open the shape Viewer and attempt your equipment log.. see what the log says it truly is putting on on the time stamp you shut down your pc. this does no longer sound like an endemic, yet that an put in software is protecting your pc from ending it is consultation.
