Let's say we encoded the first million digits of Pi as a 2-dimensional image and instead of making random noise it made a perfect full-colour high resolution image of Jesus hanging on the cross. That would be pretty compelling evidence. But then, why would a god piddle about like that? If he wanted us to believe then he could make us believe without parlour tricks.

It is unfortunate that it's in our nature to want concrete forms of proof. It would be nice for us to witness something like this but what are we to believe in a day and age where the five senses can be so completely fooled by modern technology? with this question at light even modern day miracles would meet with skepticism at best. I'm afraid that, for the time being we still have to take it on faith. At least until our inevidable deaths when we all find out for sure.

If you have any, I'd be curious to see it. What have you got?

Also, which god? Or which gods? And is the evidence definately evidence of a specific god or set of gods, or just evidence pointing to something that seems like a god or set of gods?

Well it'd be nice to hear a booming voice in the sky to remind everyone He's still in charge and doesn't like what's going on. What happened to the days of booming voices and burning bushes? Why is He keeping so quiet nowadays, and only seems to whisper to the Pope and the like?

I don't know... He should appear and tell me things only I know. And preferably He does some magic tricks too. But the most important is that He should make a good impression. Just because He's a god, it doesn't mean I accept Him as MY god.

No proof needed. The evidence is in all that exists around you. From the infinitesimal, to the incomprehensible grandness of the Universe. :)

Since we have not been able to define exactly who or what God is it is difficult to pinpoint what sort of evidence would be required to prove his existence.

I don't need solid, foolproof evidence....nor do I need a structured religion. You wanna see God? watch a child being born.

if god would appear to me today i should ask him to explain why he thinks it is ok to send us aids, the asian tsunami, and the current situation in lebanon - and then expects us to thank him for his trouble.

i'd give him about an hour.

and he'd need to be good.
