Triskadecaphobia is a "western thing". There is supersitious twaddle in every country (eg. witchcraft, astrology, christianity, etc.).
Try the Chinese, Koreans and Japanese. Their building floors are numbered "1 2 3 F 5 6..." because the character for "4" has the same sound as the character for "death".

Because people (unfortunately) do not think for themselves. They are conditioned by their communities, churches, schools & parents, and instead of doing their own research and making up their own minds, they opt for the easy way out.

many superstitions are associated with 13!

majority of deaths have been on 13(sigh!)
if 80%world says it, there is no harm in acceptin it
