It just depends on who you are. Religion works for some people, and it doesn't for others. Lots of people don't need religion to tell them how to do right or wrong, or how to live. Other people need that sort of support.

There are times when religion does harm: wars, the crusades, brainwashing younger children. But religion can also bring people together (and seperate, take the situation in the middle east: sunnis vs shi-ites, extereme religious right, etc). It also brings emotional support to some people.

I personally don't find a use for religion, but millions of others do. Only when religion tears people apart can it really be "bad."

So to answer your question: yes and no.

No. Religious is just you trying to be good by following a set of rules; going to church etc. religion will not get you anywhere but make you feel better about yourself because you are doing something.
it is by far better to have a relationship with a Living Lord. He wants you to get to know Him and love Him as He loves you.

Religion without philosophy is sentiment.
Philosophy without religion is mental speculation.

Together is the science. It is a scientific balance. It is not a sentiment.
You accept to take lessons of God and you will realize. The beginning is enquire from a godly person. What is my nature? What is the cause of my suffering? Gradually you will realize.

Hearing the messages of God is good but be cautious to hear from a realized person not from a professional who makes a living.

Allegedly so but nobody has studied the true effects of religion on individual and society,...it's time to put it under the microscope of science and really decide if religion is as good as it claims to be for us...trouble is it's hard to get funding for any unbiassed studies of religion...they are too worried the results won't be flattering.

Yes it is good to believe in and act upon good and established ideas of human behavior and action. However, one should refrain from blind following of any command issued from anyone associating themselves to religion.
