ringworm isn't a " worm " at all..it is really a fungus...a fungal infection....they call it ringworm because of the shape if the lesions...

when our dog had ringworm we cleaned the spots with Beta-dine ( that brown liquid, you can get it at the pharmacy )....

you have to rub each spot ( a little bit hard ) to remove all the crust and pus....use a gauze pad soaked in the beta-dine....

you have to wash with soap and water EACH and EVERY time...ringworm is transferable to humans....and it's not fun !!!

find out if your dog has been " rolling ' in something in your yard....we found a dead snake that must have smelled FANTASTIC to our dog......she was rolling in it every time she went outside.....we assume that's where she got the ringworm...

you have to be diligent.....clean each and every spot at least twice a day.....you should see some improvement in a week...and no new spots...but, it takes a LONG time for the hair to grow back in the spots that are already there....

good-luck!

There is no substitute for good old fashioned common sense & being responsible enough to have made financial provision {by whatever means the person chooses} for veterinary care. If someone hasn't owned dogs long enough to gauge when it's safe not note symptoms & monitor a dog's condition for signs of deterioration or it remaining the same with no improvement, then the bare minimum IS pick up the phone, err on the side of caution & be a responsible dog owner. I don't have the money has never & will never cut it for me as a reason not to take a dog to the vet.

i have had ringworm in my rescue's upon kill shelter pulls. the pups age, the nutritional, and the environments all have contributing factors with the clearing this fungus on dogs. its also highly contagious to other animals and people. if the fungus spreads to other animals, the chances are your dog's ringworm will re-occur, for each reoccurrences its harder to be rid of. if you have other animals in house, be sure to take them to veterinary and have the skin tested, and if more meds is needed to treat all the animals, at once, you will have a better chance of ridding the conditions. How about yourself, any signs of ringworm on your skin? you too may need to get some medications if you have it, and could be passing this fungus back and forth between you and your dog.

When I had ringwarm as a child my great grandmother told my mom to soak a copper penny in vinegar and hold it on the spot that had ringwarm. That got rid of it completely. I think there is a chemical reaction between the copper and the vinegar, make sure it`s copper most pennies out there not are not all copper just the ones from the 70`s and older. Not sure if this will work on a dog, good lick.

It probably wasn't completely gone and so it spread again. You have to use all of the medication and if it did not take care of it have your vet prescribe more, or something else. And be careful because you can catch it.. Do you have a cat? Cat's get it more than dogs and then spread it to the dogs..

Check this site it has a lot of info about treating it..

You will need to continue your dog on the treatment the vet put him on already. Call your vet and tell him it has returned and he should perscribe more of the medication.

Also if you have cats, keep him out of the litterbox, if not watch him closely. Dogs usually get ring worm from eating cat feces which they for some unknown reason seem to think is candy.

this is a bacteria, usually from the water.. You need to get more med's for the dog, and have your water tested, and clean everything, (dishes, toilets, anything that has water in it) YOU can get ringworm too. go on the net, and read up on the stuff, and take precautions. good luck

It is a contagious fungal infection.

It could just have come back or the source is still there. Try tea tree oil to keep it from coming back.

reapply the cream... maybe the fungus was not completely gone when you stopped the application... but just to make sure get your dog to another vet for a second opinion...

You need to wash and clean every place the dog has been and touched. Bedding, sofas, chairs, carpet etc.
