He may already know the answer, but we don't. We have free will to do as we see fit. We can choose to worship God or not.
Think about it this way, as a father sometimes the best teacher for your child is the school of hard knocks. All the explaining and teaching in the world will not stop them from doing what they want. Then they get the consequences for good or bad. I believe this is what God does with us. It's not for Him that we go through trials, but for us.

It's not a pass or fail test. It's more to reveal to us where we are in our faith and where we need to go.
I am a teacher. And I sometimes, when teaching a lesson and the class would get loud and unruly...I would say, "Fine. Apparently you know this material. Let's take a test and move on." I knew the kids would fail. And they did fail. And I'd say, "Well, you seemed to already know the material, so I'm going to record these grades and we'll just go to the next concept."
Of course, they'd protest then settle in and listen so they could learn and pass the test the next time around.
I tested them, not because I needed to know where they were, but because I needed THEM to know where they were, so they would listen...and learn...and pass the next test, so they could learn more.
A marathon runner tests his endurance to see where his personal boundaries are. When he finds his boundaries, he works on building his strength so he can test his endurance at a greater distance.
It's about growing stronger and more mature. God is a teacher and a father and a coach and so much more.

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
God already knows your faith level. But do you? The trying of your faith is so that you can see where it works and where it doesn't and can do the things you need to correct your faith. Usually those "trials" involve little things. But if we take care of the little trails, we are ready when the big overwhelming ones come. (And as long as we live in world where there is sin, they will)

It is for our growth and our ability to learn. We have free will and tests of faith ensure us that we are on the right path, it is God's way of showing us the way to go and reassuring us that we have put our lives in the right hands.

Because there are people who believe that there is God and try to relate everything that happens around to God.
I am actually surprised to see a fair amount of die hard Christians after knowing that people are moving away from it after realizing that it's not true.

God uses life experiences to help us grow. We grow best in adversity. It is kind of like the butterfly struggling out of the cocoon. If the butterfly didn't have to fight, the wings would be damaged and misformed and the butterfly would never flourish. The struggles we face strenghthens our wings. Plus He is there to help us through. So adversity brings us closer to Him and teach us to rely on Him.

Good Day!
Hey dude, I do believe that Christ tested the faith of His saint in order to purify and strengthen them to become worthy of receiving the crown of life.
As the Scripture says,
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
2.) God tested his saints in order to increase their faith and reveal His power to them because in their weaknesses the manifestation of the power and glory of the lord is shown!
As the scripture says,
And Jesus said, " My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." ....... 2 Cor. 12:9
The conclusion; God develops and molds the attitude, character and life of His saints by testing them or by letting them to undergo in the fire of trials in order for them to put their trust and act with dependency towards Him. God wants that His people should live by FAITH...........
