Because I feed, clothe, bathe, kiss, cuddle, read to, play with, protect, sacrifice for, adore, and spoil him.
He calls me Mama. He runs to me when he's scared or hurt. His favorite place to sleep is on my lap while he rests his little head on my chest.
He calls my husband Daddy and runs screaming and clapping when he hears him come in the door at night. He blows kisses out the window until his Daddy is out of sight.... his face lights up when he hears his voice on the phone.
I didn't give birth to him, my husband didn't father him... but he's ours. And we're completely his.
There has never been a doubt about that.

To me Paternity is a matter of fact as well, but whether or not he's a dad is a matter of how he treats the child. If a man treats a child that isn't his like his own, then he's the daddy to that child. All it takes to become a father is a few sperm. It takes heart and dedication to be a dad. There's a big difference. The same applies to women. You can give birth to many children and never be a mommy. It all depends on your choices. Paternity shouldn't be questioned anyways of you really love each other. If you are both monogamous then you are safe, if your S/O doesn't believe the child is his then do a paternity test, prove to him that you are faithful, but keep in mind that if he's accusing you cheating for no good reason, he's probably the infidel.

From who's viewpoint? Paternity is as much of a fact as maternity is, and can easily proved, especially with today's technology.

I am.
Had my wife locked up in a cellar for a year. Pretty darn sure it's mine.
