It isn't a debate as much as a battle. The summer King after resting on the sun and rejuvenating himself comes down to earth and challenges the Winter King to a battle. The Winter King has ruled for six months and is growing weary and weak but he cannot refuse to fight and lose his honor. The battle commences with storms and sometimes tornadoes spawned by the might of their swords slashing through the air. The clouds cry for their weakened king. Finally, the deciding blow is struck and the young Summer king wins the battle. The old wounded (or you could say that he died and will be resurrected later) Winter king is carried away to the dark side of the moon to rest and recover enough to do battle once again.

After six months, the Winter king has transformed form an old wounded king to a young healthy king ready for battle. He descends to earth to take his rightful place by challenge the aging Summer king. Again, a fierce battle commences. The mighty swings of the Winter king's sword causes frosty blasts of air to whip around the earth. Storms, tornadoes and sometimes hurricanes form from the raging battle. Finally, the young Winter King strikes the deciding blow and the battle is ended. The trees welcome back the Winter king with bright oranges, reds and yellows as the old, wounded Summer king is carried back to the sun to rest and heal for the next battle.

Well twice every year in spring and fall Summer and Winter have this "thing" and the results are pretty much the same at each given point in time---they argue and they fuss and they discuss how it should be and they bring all their baggage to the table and it can get to be unbelievalby messy
But every year the incumbent season looses out to the new comer
In spring Summer always puts Winter away and it retreats to where ever Winters go to prepare an onslaught for fall to give Summer something to think about all Winter long
This has been going on since the earth has been and it doesn't look to be much different for some time to come
