If you don't desire anything you will always be happy and not be sorrow. When you desire things then it eats at you. It pecks at your brain.. it makes you jealous when someone else has it... it makes you angry when you can't have it.. desire can drive you insane.

The absence of desire makes you stronger in that your emotions are not pulled around. Think of a puppet with strings. The strings are emotions and you are the puppet.

Emotions like desire can manipulate you thus making you weak. A pretty girl might make you cheat on your girlfriend... the desire for money can make you lie, cheat or steal... etc.

In your top question: If you do not want or desire anything then you do not feel bad about not having it. Therefore you have no sorrow. I think that would make you mentally strong which might also create physical strength in return.

Maybe a protection from being hurt by someone, I don't understand myself how that would make a person physically strong.

If you do not have desire you will never experiece sorrow. You will never be said because you will never fail since you did not crave for anything.
