It might get infected, but that may not be a bad thing if her immune system can fight it off... watch it closely for a few days, see a doctor quick if it gets gross and smelly.

The sight of the splinter can fester and become swollen with signs of an infection {increased redness, pain, puss like a pimple etc...}
The best way to remove it would be to wash the area and try to back it out the way it went in with needle nose tweezers or a small needle cleaned with alcohol first. Sometimes waiting a day or so will actually help the splinter to work it's own way out but you must keep the area clean. Though in some cases the body just heals over the area and it will stay put so you should try to remove it before the area heals over.
If there is any problem or there are signs of infection call a doc and get further advice.

It may or may not have opened a pathway for germs. The worst case scenario is she develops an infection. The easiest way to get it out is to apply lotion or oil to the skin so the splinter can be manipulated to reverse itself. This may not be possible depending on how far down it is. If it hurts to touch the skin around it or it can not be easily seen, it may be safer to have a doctor remove it.

If left it will eventually either work its way to the surface or be absorbed by your body fluids...it depends on what kind of splinter it is. Easy way to remove it is with a sewing needle...just gradually break away the skin and dig it out.

I got one under my nail once and I had minor pain for years if I pressed on it. The pain got less and less over time. One day I went swimming and it just came out randomly all by itself. I would just let it do it's thing unless it really bothers you. If it really bothers you then go the doctor and have them remove it. Do NOT try to take it out yourself anymore because the skin as grown around it and you would have to literally cut open your foot to get it out and that is simply not safe.

It will hurt. Your body will try to get rid of it, so it might get infected. I would try (clean) like sewing needle but make sure it is clean (use rubbing alcohol to clean the needle) try to pull up the skin in the area and once it's exposed more try to pull it with a tweezers

If it is only a small one, it will eventually come out on it's own - as the skin grows, it will be pushed out.
