Any light stimulating the Pineal Gland in the Central Nervous System will keep the body from secreted (producing) Melatonin. Melatonin is a natural hormone produced in our our body by this Pineal Gland. Melatonin is secreted when there is a decrease of light to the eye. Even the light from the clock radio can be enough to keep melatonin from secreting. If you do try Melatonin again, be sure to turn out all lights and remove/block any stimulus to the eye within 30 minutes of taking it, or it will not work. Computer light and television are big culprits to this problem, so avoid them, too. Another thing you might try it Ambien. This is a prescription medication, but does not give the person left over medicated effects as found in anti-histamine based drugs. When you wake up, your awake. Good luck to you and I wish you success. Having suffered from insomnia myself, I found these to be the best solutions.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

Melatonin is a natural supplement that promotes sleep. You can purchase it at Walmart or any pharmacy. The average dose is 5 mg. I prefer to take a sublingual (dissolves under the tongue for more effective absorption). Usually, 2.5 mg is sufficient with the sublingual. You can find the sublingual at most health food stores. Melatonin stays in your system for about six hours, so there are no lingering effects the next morning. Another nice thing about melatonin ... if I wake up at 3 a.m. and can't go back to sleep, I take another 1/2 sublingual, return to sleep, and still wake up fine in the morning.

to cure insomnia is so simple, remove all worries and tensions from your head, first learn to relax. before going to sleep, listen to some good music, think romantically as if you are in some hill stations etc. which will make you feel happy and just sit for a while in a meditating posture. be cool. drink a glass of warm milk adding badam to it, it is so soothing that you will go for sleep unknowingly. try this, you will sleep , please dont oversleep ok after all it is your mind which is guiding you, if it is relaxed, having pleasant feelings for yourself and others around you, why not you will have a good sleep. dont use any medicines, train your mind, it works.

HEY one in my field of expertise,
two words sleep maintenance,
1. decrease caffiene, limit yourself by slowly dwindling down to a comfortable range (for me it was a strong cup of coffee in the AM and some diet sodas every great once in a while) THis is difficult but neccessary esecially during sleepy times.
2.SUNLIGHT many sleep problems can be helped by light, turn off all sources of light BEFORE going to bed. (including the TV)
Expose yourself to sunlight regularly during the day even if its just through a window. This will help adjust your circadium rhythm.(your intenal sleep clock)
3. Noise, fast music as early as can be tolerated and enjoyed, soft noises or NO noises during the night time.
if these don't work, check witht the doc, sleeping problems kill thousands of people a year and cost everyone millions of dollars.

Read a book in bed until you get drousy. You're trying too hard to fall asleep by taking all that junk. Just start reading a magazine, or drawing, or play video games, do something that makes you concentrate, it'll make you tired.
