according to my former pediatrician and my chiropractor, wheight lifting at a young age does not affect height. its just a myth

Not at all, my brother began weight lifting at 16 he is now 19 and grew up four inches and looks great since he has been working out for almost 3 years.

I;ve been told by fellow gym rats and trainers that weightlifting much before 14 can louse up growth plates, focus on cardio, and flexibility, and then move into weights, it'll give you a great base to start building on.

in fact lifting weight will help growing muscles and make him hefty. being short and tall determined by genes and hereditary factors, it has got nothing to do with this. if he doesnt want to lift weight, may be he is lazy enough to do that job. one thing is for sure, a person can lift weight according to his capacity only.

No, he'll just look proportionally shorter with wide shoulders.

Seriously, though - if he's dumb enough to mess with steroids it could cause growth plates to close prematurely. Other than that and the possibility of Salter-Harris V (growth plate crush injuries), there's no risk of stunting his growth.

body growth has certain limit... if someone try hard on heavy lifting not body building, with other sports, his height wont develop but other muscles.
become muscle bouncing body builder.
have to balance the exercise and diet, and other activities.
most body builders just concentrate on developing muscles and amount of weight to life but not height, become short, i guess..
