do not worry, she will get hungry enough to eat again. People can survive a month or so without eating. It is not very healthy but not life threatening yet.

If she continues for more then a week or so consult a parent or guardian of yourself or your friend. It is possible she has an eating disorder.

To friends,

If you have concerns about your friend's eating habits, talk to her about it or speak with a trusted adult about it.

When a person starves herself, that person's body goes into starvation mode - it is a natural defense. The body will store more of the food that she eats (when she is eating) so that it will have reserves (i.e. fat) to draw upon the next time she starves herself. If the starvation becomes severe, the body will start to use nutrients that it already has - calcium taken from her bones and teeth, protein from muscle (including her vital organs like her heart, kidneys, liver, etc.). Her hair might start to fall out, nails become brittle... Not a good thing.

Also, if she is not careful when coming off of her fast, she will probably get sick from eating, which will encourage her to starve herself more, feeding a cycle of starvation and overeating.

Let her know that there are ways that she can lose weight and stay healthy. She should eat around 1200 calories (nutrient rich - fruits, vegetables, lean meats) and she will lose weight pretty quickly while remaining healthy. She should exercise and improve her muscle tone. She should drink a lot of water and stay away from soda (even diet soda). She will look better and feel better if she loses weight in a healthy manner, instead of trying to starve herself thin.

Actually, let the girl do what she wants. My friend was 175, then she starved herself for awhile and gotdown to 130 in about six months, and she's fine now.

Trust me, your friend will binge. If she's that high, after losing about 20 or 30lbs, she will begin to lose her "skill" if you know what i mean, and gain back about 10 pounds...so seriously, leave her be. Tell her to take vitamins, though.

Trust me on this, I've been through nine years of therapy on this subject

you need to tell an adult asap. eat disorders are serious and they can take years to heal, if ever. there will be long lasting problems associated with this. ask your friend to start a work out routine with you, so you can show her that exercising will help her to tone up and lose weight. even if you just walk/run around the neighborhood. tell her you just couldnt ever starve yourself cuz you know that in order to be healthy your body needs certain nutrients. look up healthy recipes and plan to cook a meal together or sit in on a local weight watchers meeting (its free to just go in and listen). understand that starving yourself is never the way to go and make sure your friend know's this as well.

It's never good to starve yourself, I understand if she wants to loose wait ok that's fine. Eat less of what you would normally eat. And if she is hungry she will eat. But I think you as a friend should keep a close eye on here and when and if she is starting to have problems you make her dr.s appoinment for her or take her to the ER which is what is probably going to happen 1st if she doesnt start eating soon.

That is very unhealthy. You must get her to eat. Fat is very rich in energy. And computers are not always right. Free avalanches disappear over the summer in windy conditions. When are feelings subcontional?

Tell her when she starts eating again, her body is going to be confused and store fat like crazy. I used to fast (spiritually) and I got so skinny ( and met my husband ~ ain't that nothin~) but after I stopped fasting, my body was soooo confused and is just getting back "normal" again after about 2 years.

oh yeah...and when she takes her first few bites...she'd better go slow & light or she will be ONE sick puppy

Talk to her parents, talk to any adult that would be in a position to help her. Obviously you are worried about your friend, with good reason. She is well on her way to having major health problems.
PLEASE, GET HELP FOR HER ASAP!!
