Partitioning the physical drive. One partition, usually the one containing the operating system, will be the primary drive. You may want to go into Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, choose Disk Mangement. you should be able to format the partition and assign drive letters.

Safest way when you already have the drive formatted and programs loaded is to use a program such as Partition Magic to create a new partition.
