Quoted from an answer to one of my other questions on Y!Answers :

"The scientists decided they had created life. So a representative was sent to God to tell Him. He responded...fine, go ahead!

The scientist picked up some clay. With that, the skies darkened, rains fell, thuder roared and lightning flashed. In fear the scientist asked: What's wrong?

God replied...Get your own clay!"

Given that a hundred years ago people would have said that cloning a human being and mapping the Genome were impossible, and that six hundred years ago the technology we have now would have been considered devil worship and you would have been burned to death for studying such things by the church, surely in enough time and with enough technological and/or biological evolution and/or manipulation on our part we will reach a stage where it's possible to "Create our own clay" ?

Please assume that we could and tell me what argument you would you give to support the existance of God in that new world..?

People will stop making arguments as ridiculous as that one, I would hope (but maybe not).

It won't change anything. People who believe in God will still believe in God and people who don't still won't. Life will carry on. Those religious types who aim to 'prove' that they are right will move the goalposts - yet again. Those religious types who say 'I believe and ı don't need proof' will still do so.

In 2002 scientists created living viruses from non-living matter. We are capable of creating life from "clay" already. Those viruses are self-replicating and fully functional organisms.

Since viruses can be made under laboratory conditions from inorganic material, if the science is continued to it's ultimate conclusion, it is only a matter of time until man can put that knowledge to whatever use it deems appropriate.

While it is likely to be hundreds of years from now that we can make a man from "clay", we have already taken the first steps in that direction. I believe that in all likely hood, when that time comes, there will be a brand new target (in the form of laboratory born lifeforms) for the religious nuts to discriminate against, and I predict that they will do just that.

It's impossible to make your own clay, no matter what assumption you're willing to make. There is only one creator. There is only one God. Human cloning is not a human invention, it is a human discovery. God established the science trillions of years before man existed. I suggest looking at God and science from an Islamic perspective as opposed to a Christian perspective to give you greater accuracy to the reality of the universe. Islam holds the many keys which you are looking for.

Genetic Engineering and Modification of Clones. We would improve on God's body creation. However, in Cloning and Genetic Engineer on such a large scale would then intail engineering forms of restrain docility and strength freedom would be lost. Thoughts of God's existence would be far away during that time.

if god did not create man, god did not create clay either.

if there is no god why would anyone assume god 'owns' clay.

the question cannot be answered. not because it is unanswerable, but only because it is meaningless.

We will never be able to. Life cannot be created by man.
