why do ppl say atheists dont...?

Question

....exist? I'm an atheist and i hear a lot that i dont exist( i'm pretty sure i do!), ppl say that God doesnt believe in me but surely if God is real and He did create me, then He has to believe in me! I mean u believe He made me right? And He made me as an atheist cause i wasnt born with religion, just wondering why ppl say this.

I know what atheism means, the question was directed at ppl who believe in god, because if u believe in god u obviously think god made me, even though i dont!

pdman I capitalize His name because i was taught to b respectful! And very few of u got this question at all! Kinda disapointed in the atheists thought we were the smart ones, i expected better answers from u, instead u just attacked one of ur own! I am an atheist I know exactly what i believe and have know for years!

Several ppl here have misunderstood your question. They don't think you can be an atheist and also talk hypothetically about a "God".

All babies are born atheists until they are infected with the religion virus. This is pretty clear, since (like language) children only adopt religions to which they've been exposed (which explains the geographical distribution of both language and beliefs around the world).

So, you could say that "god-believers" don't really exist; they were brainwashed as kids, while they were still defenseless and trusting. Later, they indulged in the practice of ascribing they're own opinions to "God" when they noticed that others were less inclined to challenge their "religious beliefs".

So today we have the true atheists (you and me included), and people who masquerade as "believers" who are afraid to have their opinions challenged.

By the way, a-theist means literally "without a god-belief" (it is NOT a belief that there is no god!), so agnostics (those who don't know whether a god exists) are actually closet atheists.

God did make you. He didn't make you as an atheist. What he did was give you the choice to deny his existence. Why? Because if he didn't give people the choice whether or not to love and obey him, then love and obedience wouldn't *mean* anything.

God's greatest gift to us is the opportunity to choose to turn away from him. He loves us enough to let us make our own decisions, instead of his controlling us and forcing us to be and do certain things.

I don't know why people say that you don't exist because you're an atheist. Clearly, you are here. It must be some point of theology that they're talking about?

Anyway, you aren't a true atheist. A true atheist wouldn't even consider that God created them. There would be no "if" about it. An atheist is someone who thinks they have proof that God does not exist, so "if" should not even be in their vocabulary.

They say that atheists don't exist for the same reason that they get all angry when you ask the question "If god is all-powerful, can he create a stone that even he can't lift?"

Also, are you an atheist (completely deny the existence of any god) or an agnostic (believes that it is impossible to know if god exists)? Just wondering because I'm an agnostic.

Atheists don't exist because a true atheist *knows* that there isn't a God, whereas there's no one on this planet that can say for sure either way.

People who call themselves atheists are really agnostics: they aren't sure if there is a God.

Consider that human knowledge encompasses a full 1% of all the knowledge in the universe. (we don't even know that much, by the way). That leaves 99% we don't know anything about. Therefore, someone who says that there is no God (atheists) are in reality, simply unsure due to lack of information.

I have no earthly idea what religion that person was, that told you that you did not exist to God. As a christian I believe that God will always love you, no matter what. That's why Jesus died on the cross to cleanse us of our sins. God did not make you an atheist, God simply gave you FREE WILL. Even Adam & Eve had FREE WILL when they lived in paradise, and we all know what happened. Just remember, God will never turn his back away from anyone; we are the ones that turn our backs to him.

I know you believe in LOVE and I do, and that's why Love is the only religion for us and love is the only God which Exists.The other Truth is that, We don't have that existence which actually seen. I guess people say that because the first thing out of people's mouths in time of trouble is often God related. "God, why did this happen to me?" "God, help me live through this." "Oh, God, I hope I'm not pregnant!" This is often true of people that claim no belief in God. This is why they say there are no atheists in foxholes. When the going gets tricky, it makes us feel comfort that someone with power knows what is going on and has control over this crazy world.

So, yes, I guess it is easy to say you don't believe in God when times are good and it's cool not to believe. But what happens when someone you love is in the hospital. Do you just leave it in the hands of the doctors? Or, do you pray to God with all your might?

Wow, chicka, you really contradicted yourself there. You must be born AGAIN. Read the book of Romans and the Book of John and get clear: does God or doesn't He exist? It doesn't matter how you were born, just that you believe in HIM and receive Him. He'll open your eyes and give you new life. People say atheists don't exist just to tease you and also because we feel that you must be ignoring ALL OF CREATION to think such a thought: no God, yeah okay. Mmm hmmm.

Some people seriously doubt that a person can disbelieve in God. It probably comes from things that their preachers have told them. Preachers have a vested interest in demonising non-believers: if they let their 'flock' see that a person can be a kind, charitable, loving, positive and successful person without the crutch of God, then people will turn their backs on their church and stop paying tithes. Preachers need to convince their 'flock' that the only way to go to heaven and the only way to be happy is to keep paying that 10%. It's all a business transaction.
