If they're really in a cult, you can start here for info: http://www.rickross.com/prep_faq.html. You can find a cult intervention specialist of your own.

But Seventh-Day Adventist isn't a cult. I mean, sure, some people could use the name and make a cult out of it--but in and of itself, it isn't a cult. Make sure that you have your definitions straight before you go doing anything drastic.

A cult is typified by its followers being unallowed to make the choice to leave. That is one of the first signs that it's a cult. If people have the choice to walk away, it's not a cult.

Another sign is that the leader(s) demand(s) money and property from the followers. Not ask--demand. There is a difference. One has the choice to say "no" to the question, but no choice to say "no" to the demand.

And so forth. Educate yourself on what cults are. It'll help.

Although some consider the SDA a cult, many others do not. Most religions can be considered cults, and although SDA may not believe what you or I believe, that doe not automatically make it a cult. I say that as a disclaimer because I do not know enough about the SDA religion to know whether it would fit the criteria to be defined as a cult.

What I do know though, is that if anyone has issues with needing to be rescued from cults, there is someone who specializes in it, and I am giving the link below as my source- but first here is a quote from the site:

"Steven Alan Hassan, cult counselor and mind control expert is a Nationally Certified Counselor and licensed Mental Health Counselor and has developed a breakthrough approach to help loved ones rescue cult mind control victims. He is a former member of the Moon cult. Ex-cult members and others seek him out for specialized counseling to help them recover from symptoms other mental health professionals are not trained to address.

Hassan has been at the forefront of cult awareness activism since 1976 and is the author of two critically acclaimed books – Combatting Cult Mind Control: The #1 Best-selling Guide to Protection, Rescue, and Recovery from Destructive Cults (1988) and Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves (2000).

Hassan has 30 years of frontline activism exposing destructive cults, providing counseling and training, and appearing in major media including 60 Minutes, Nightline, Dateline, Larry King Live, and The O’Reilly Factor."

Good luck.
