what are the harmful effects of a misquito coil?

i would just like to know what is in a misquito coil and what it can do to you that can harm you. i can see after prolonged use the look of tarish black on my misquito coil holder.

burning mosquito coils release a white gas.this gas is nothing but carcinogens which are harmful to man especially childrens.Also they cause air pollution.now a days mosquito have underwent evolution and they can sustain their life easily even in the presence of a burning coil.
