why do people use narcotics to escape from stress and anxiety?

so they can forget their problems. look at all the problems of the world. everyone uses something to dull the pain some ways are just more destructive then others. they need positive help not to be looked down upon. its a disease. self inflicted jsut like lung cancer.

You'd have to put yourself in their shoes to understand. Never underestimate what can happen to a person to bring them down. Alot of times being in a near catatonic state is far better than having to confront the harsh realities of "life". Hopefully it will never happen to you so you'll never have to know why people do it.
