You will repair rifles, pistols, shotguns, light machine guns, and things like that. For the most part it will be a 9-5 with weekends off unless you deploy. I don't know about the daily routine, but it probably won't be too bad. Good Luck andstay safe.

Army forces use a wide array of weapons, from small field artillery to large ballistic missiles. Most of these weapons have electronic components and systems that help locate targets, aim weapons and fire those weapons. It's the Small Arms/Artillery Repairer's responsibility to keep these weapons operating properly.

The Small Arms/Artillery Repairer is primarily responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on small arms and other infantry weapons. Some of your duties as a Small Arms/Artillery Repairer may include:

Repairing and maintaining artillery, naval gun systems and infantry weapons
Cleaning and lubricating gyroscopes, sights and other electro-optical fire control components
Repairing and maintaining missile mounts, platforms and launch mechanisms
Testing and adjusting weapons firing, guidance and launch systems

While you are in the states you will most likely work 6:30 to 7:30 PT, 9 to 11:30 work, 11:30 to 12:30 lunch, and 12:30 to 4:30 work. Keep in mind your hours change with no notice. You will be required to attend meetings at any time of the day when requested including evenings. If there is an arms room inspection, your hours will increase. In preparation for deployment, your hours will increase. While deployed, you will work the same hours as everyone else. Generally if you have free time, you will be put on guard or some other kind of duty. Good luck!!

You will be working in the Armory for the first couple of years. Once you attain the rank of SGT, you may apply to become an instructor.

Your daily routine will be (depending on the unit):

Mon, Tue, Wed, and Fri: 0600 - 0700 Physical training
0700-0900 Personal Hygiene (shower, breakfast, get dressed)
0900-0930 First formation / Work call
0930-1130 Repair weapons, conduct inventory, drop off/pick up weapons that you're not able to repair, other items that the NCOIC/OIC deem necessary.
1130-1300 Lunch
1300-1630 Repair weapons, conduct inventory, drop off/pick up weapons that you're not able to repair, other items that the NCOIC/OIC deem necessary.
1630- Free time

Thur morning is reserved for SGT's Time. This is a training period that is held from 0700-1200. Then lunch, and clean up.

Weekends and holidays are yours, unless deployed.

Congratulations, and good luck

You'll be repairing small arms. Basically anything that's not crew-served. You'll probably only ever be assigned to a pretty high echelon, like division or corps. You'll have about the most normal schedule anyone in the army ever sees, because units will only send weapons to you when they're really broke.

Cleaning!!!!! Welcome to the family, you are now a janitor in the military. You will be harrassed by other soldiers who have been it that unit awhile and you will be given all the boot jobs. Dont worry it only lasts till some more boots show up and you can do what will be done to you. Just dont haze them. Its not worth office hours

Sounds pretty sham to me. Go google "PMCS" for TMs and FMs (Technical and Field Manuals) on the M4, M203, etc..

When you get out you can be one of the civilians who TI (technical inspection) our weapon systems and make a lot of money.
