I can't seem to find a favor I really don't think is a waste of money... the best ideas I've found are carmel apples, tulip bulbs, saltwater taffey (we live in Charleston, SC and we are having a very Charleston wedding), and "Mint to be together" mint tins. What do you think and can you think of any other inexpensive, interesting favors?

What should I get my bridal party? I'm thinking something unique, I've got a 50's style to the wedding... Maybe a Michael Buble CD... I'm lost on presents to the groom's men....

HELP PLEASE!

What do you think of using 4" x 4" honey combs (as in still in the wax) with little custom labels? I found a local honey farm willing to cut me a deal.

I think that the saltwater taffy sounds like a really cute idea, as do the mints. I've seen those in several different styles and you can pick a font or design that looks kind of retro, so it will go with your theme too.

As for bridal party gifts, you might try going to antique stores. I know that makes most people think of like, 1800s or so, but they have a lot of really cool stuff. There and at flea markets, you could find some authentic 1950s stuff like really cool postcards you can frame or other types of memorabilia. Same with the groomsmen, they might have different types of glasses or mugs that are a little retro looking too. And that way you know that everything you are getting is very unique. Good luck!

I love the idea of the mint tins. Michael Buble CD sounds good but what about an older one like Frank Sinatra. Chris Botti is good too. For the men, maybe a team beer mug.

Traditonal Charleston gift.......Don't go overboard with wedding favors because many people forget to take them home. I love the mint tins. Maybe throw in a recipe to go with the mint tins. You can find some really cute recipe cards and print them out on your home printer or go to Kinko's and have them do (it's not that expensive) Punch a hole in the card and tie to the tin with baby ribbon. Are you using mint candies or real mint leaves? If you are using real mint then put a Mint Julep recipe in there and tell them to use a good Kentucky bourbon. (A little biased opinion there) If you don't know a good bourbon use Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve or Knob Hill. Get the salt water taffy for the kids and adults who may not drink. Use clear celophane bags and tie with grosgrain ribbon in colors that match the wedding colors.
The groomsmen presents are for the groom to figure that one out. But if you must get a little something for the guys how about a small flask or pilsner glasses with their name etched in it. You just worry about the bridesmaids and wedding favors. For the bridesmaid, my Aunt Syleste gave her bridesmaids a silver picture frame with the date of the wedding engraved on it. (The wedding was in Charleston, SC.) How about a sterling charm bracelet with a magnolia leaf or a charm with their first intial or a wedding bell with the date of your wedding? It will be something they can wear and keep for life.
Mint Julep
Place the mint leaves in the bottom of glass and use a muddle to bruise the leaves. Then pack the glass with crushed ice, pour in 2 ounces of a good KY Bourbon. Fill the rest of the glass with simple syrup. Garnish with a mint sprig. Sip and enjoy.

(Simple syrup is 1 cup of water to 1 cup of sugar, boil to dissolve sugar, and then cooled)

The last site has reasonable prices for braclets and charms. I've ordered many times from this site for friends graduation and birthday presents.

We didn't want to waste money on favors either so we made a charitable donation and then made place cards that said "In Honor of our guests we have made a donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation" It was a huge hit and we helped out a great cause. As for attendant gifts we didn't have a theme and we got them something that they would use, we had leatherman tools engraved with their names.

Congrats and Good luck!

Wedding favors....seriously, check out your local dollar stores. My aunt found some great, fancy looking picture frames at one here and bought them out. She got enough for the entire guest list, plus extras for those who are, um, grabby, and she still has extras that she now uses around their home with their wedding pics in them. Oh, and the best part, because she bought all of them, the manager gave her a massive discount....she got about 300 of them for $150. Not bad, right?

Bridal party gifts....maybe little giftbags w/ 50s themed trinkets? Men...ooh, they're always difficult. Maybe little '57 Chevy models? lol....good luck, and congrats!!

The honeycom idea sounds cute but what will your guests do with them afterward? Mint tins are cute and practical. Wrap the tin with tulle of your wedding colors tie it with a small sunflower (or other paper flower) and attach a simple thank-you note...Congrats!

You could do custom candy bar wrappers, they are simple, classy(if done right), and cheap. you don't need any special software. The wrappers fit over a regular hershey bar, and the design possibilities are endless.
