Some people write. Some people read.

No one is forcing anyone to read an answer...so if something is over ten words whoever is looking can just skip it if they want.

If some of the longer answers here are considered a "book"...what is War and Peace now considered?

Because people ask questions here that require long answers. Not everything in life is simple, not every question has a yes-or-no answer. When someone asks "How do I train my dog?", well, the answer to that question fills about four shelves worth of books at my local library.

If you don't want to know the full answer, don't ask your question.

you may not want to read a book, but if you ask a complicated question, then you're bound to get a complicated answer.
If I answered a question on how to write a good essay with a couple of sentences, it would not be very helpful at, all would it?

The asker often wants to read the book, but just reads it here instead...Some questions are not easily answered in a few words.

My friend's Internet connection is so lousy that she can't do the research herself, so I assume some of the askers are in the same boat.
the complete answer is educational for those who have an interest in the same subject. those who are not interested don't need to read it.

But we try to be explicit in our answers so there is no misinterpretation and because of our answers, and some one acting upon them, they are not hurt, mamed or killed because we happen to leave out an "important" part of the information we were trying to infer on them, so I hope this clarifies this immediate situation and you dont bother me with this again or I will have to really get a longer response so that you will know exactly what I am trying to imput in your brain houseing group and you are some what not comprehending this sitation and I think its funny as all get out, that I wrote this long of a silly response with out even using one period!!

I wish you well..

Well, maybe the question needs a detailed answer. As long as the answerer sticks to the point and is not repeating him or herself, I dont think there is anything wrong with long answers.

Infact, you'll notice that only those who dont really know for sure give one line answers.

To some people a longer answer means a smarter answer. So by writing an essay for their answer they think they look smarter. In actuality they just make the rest of us yawn. When they add big words to their answers they think they look smart but they don't they are just using big words in a big answer. It's annoying but it's what they want.

That's why! :P

some questions deserve detailed answers. for those questions, the asker appreciates the time and thought given to their question.
the LONG LONG answers that are boring...are usually copy/pasted off a site. some ppl like to copy/paste and pass it off as their own advise..which i find stupid. others just add a link ( i do this), its easy, short, and give the asker all the info that they could every want on their question.

lol I have often wondered the same thing. Sometimes if it's an involved subject I will draw out my answer but otherwise it's the KISS principle!
Just one question? Why did you choose Dogs for this question?
