A polar brand heart rate monitor is good to wear, and the price is affordable. Be careful with the ones that are STRAPLESS (watch only), because those are the ones that are difficult to monitor your heart WHILE you are running. The best heart rate monitors are the ones with a strap to keep a check of your heart rate, constantly.

I've had good luck with my Polar A70. It was like $80. If you can afford it, the new Garmin Forerunner is a GPS device with a heart rate monitor. Supposedly it is fairly advanced, but pricey ($300). http://www.garmin.com.

Decide what features you want and shop around. Most of them have more information than you want so don't over pay for something you don't need.

i've had a few...what are you looking for? The one I use right now (timex) is also a nice watch. I also have a cheap polar...does nothing but show your heart rate.

all will give you about the same readings.
