The absolute best p2p software. I've tried others, but whenever I try to download a file, it just sits there and sits there (With an exception of Ares) . Nada. With Limewire I downloaded it, ran it, choose a file, and bang, it downloaded right away.
Here's how they rank with me.
Limewire
Ares
KCEasy
Shareaza
A waste of time:
EDonkey
EMule
Piolet
BearShare
PeerWeb DC++
LPhant Plus
Morpheus
Xolox

I've been using it since it first came out. When it first came out I would get the occasional malware, but with the newer versions I rarely get any. Limewire is good for music, 2004 and older videos, pictures, and some e-books. I wouldn't recommend getting 2005 and up videos, data, and programs because they are mostly where the malware I have come across were attached to and where alot of flooding on the network with bad files occur. So it depends on your needs. The downloads are usually reliable depending if you have at least 2 or more peers and the download speeds are pretty good. I have tried other like Kazaa, BearShare, Morpheus, Napster, BitLord and eDonkey and I have found Limewire to be the best so far.

I am conflicted about LimeWire. I used to have it installed, and I downloaded things a lot. It worked great for less popular files--older music, for example. But the new stuff--and especially just-released DVDs--gave me big-time problems, and eventually my computer wouldn't even boot.
LimeWire is fine in and of itself, but its users pass all sorts of malware on the backs of files. And LimeWire's servers don't filter it all. So basically what it is, is a service that allows someone else's computer to connect to yours and to share information--including harmful code.
I uninstalled LimeWire, and I miss it. I am tempted every now and again to download it. But then I remember how much it cost me, and I know that next time I'll have only myself to blame, so I stay away.
If you want to use it, just don't use it for the high-traffic, ultra-hot stuff. That is mostly the stuff that bad users of the service are delivering their malware through.
