There are a few things you can do. 1. Read the cat food bag, they usually go by kitten and adult sized cats. You would follow the kitten recommendation, or it may go by the wieght of the kitten or cat. 2. You can ask a veterinarian about this too. Try this wewbsite too www.fanciers.com. Good luck and have fun.

Wow, those of you who are feeding low grade foods like Meow mix, or Purina, Iams, etc. are getting ripped off. Low quality foods like these cost you MUCH MORE then a high quality food. I feed Innova (the healthiest pet food in the world right now) and I only feed about 1/2 to 3/4 cup a day for an adult cat. This food is so packed with nutritients that I don't need to feed any more then that. I buy the 16.5lb bag which lasts about 4 months. It retails at about $40 (I get it at cost as I am a retailer). So if you look at a bag of Iams which an 8lb bag retails for about $20 but you feed twice as much you actually spend $80 in the time I spend $40 and I will have a healthier, happier cat.
These mass companies are ripping you off. Get a high quality food, you'll feed less, save money, and have a healthier cat.
Good luck.

It's usually determined by weight
1/2 - 1 cup for 2 - 4 kg cats
1 - 1 1/4 cup for 5 -7 kg cats
Sometimes it varies between dry foods... The measurements here are for MoewMix.
For a 6-month old kitten, though, I wouldn't give it more than 3/4 of a cup of dry cat food. you may also want to try the whiskas wet food packs. My cat ate about half of one pack each day.

What kind of dry food are you feeding? I am a vet tech student and I learned that cats require specific nutrients for a good diet. Read the label of the food and see the suggestions and make sure you are feeding kitten food because he/she need proper nutrition for proper growth. Also talk to your vet and they should give some info about it. If the kitten is eating constantly and not gaining weight get it check because it could be hyperthyroidism or another condition. Hope this helps

just one can of cat food, the small ones is all the adult cats get. you can kill a kitten if you let it eat as much as it wants. cups is to much. small can is good for the whole day and dry food it will say on the bag. it will slow the age and weight which will be about a 1/4 cup.

Small Kittens should be eating soft food until they are around nine to twelve months old. Their little tummies have a hard time with the dry stuff at first. One to one and one half cans a day should suffice.

a baby kitten aww well you need to put limits on the food or when it gets older it will be over weight but you also cant under feed it so I would probably say 1 to 2 cups depending on the size and age

i would limit it to a handful of food per day at it's age.
my 8 year old cat who lives indoors all the time gets a 85g tin of Fancy Feast (half in the morning, half at night) and a handful of dry food. She rarely eats all the dry food but devours all the tinned food on the spot.
Don't over feed it. It will just keep on eating and it will make it a sick cat when it gets older.

Have food in the bowl all the time and it will eat when it's hungry or feed it twice a day with soft canned food and hard cat food every morning and night. Always supply water.
