I went to costco today with my mom, and we bought a lot of bagels. However, I was reading about how 1 bagel= 6 slices of bread, and that they arn't that good for you, so now I don't want them. What should I do?

Bagels just have a lot of calories, and a lot of servings of carbohydrates.

Bagels are denser than bread, so one bagel can be equivalent of 4-6 slices of bread. If people need 6-12 servings of carbohydrates a day, it can be up to half of your day's worth of carbohydrates.

They don't have any fat, but because it has a lot of calories, if you don't burn it off (which, burning off a 400 calorie bagel takes about 40 minutes of jogging) then the stored carbohydrates get converted to fat for storage.

I would recommend mini bagels (often found in the store.) Try to get whole wheat bagels, and use lower fat and lower calorie cream cheese or spreads.

Hope that helps!

I used to love bagels but I rarely eat them these days after reading that they contain one of the highest sources of complex carbs and aren't very good for you. These will quickly transform into blood sugar, and high blood sugar can lead to hypoglycemia or in worst cases Diabetes. Bagels aren't what I'd call bad, but they are certainly not as healthy as I once thought. Eat in moderation.
