The greatest single cause of atheism today is Christians who acknowledge Christ by their lips and then deny him by their lifestyle.

Well first I'm christian and I never thought atheists went through trauma. I know an atheist at work and asked him why he became an athiest it took him two hours because he wanted to give me a real deep answer when he did he was shocked more than I was. He said" I thought i just didn't feel there was a god but then you ask me and all I could come up with is I don't have to face any decisions of the soul". I took it at that and said ok sonuds like ya got a plan........

Why is there a whole religion (Atheism) based on something that doesn't exist? In other words if, God isn't real, why do you have a religion that is all about God not being real. And why aren't there religions that deny Buddha or other religions...it is always against the God that Christians beleive....just wait, because in the end you will be sorry because you will be burning in hell because you decided to not beleive in Christ. Just because you decide it to be not true doesn't change the facts. I feel sorry for you!

Is trauma your word for epiphany?
I read your other question. Where is the proof?
Why would I listen to someone who can't even put his cap on right?
Dumptrucker - just to put you right. A religion needs a god so , by definition, atheism can't be a religion
Atheism denies the existence of ALL gods
We don't deny the existence of the Buddha because he is not, nor did he ever profess to being a god

Bill Moyers (the host of Faith and Reason on PBS) recently interviewed Salman Rushdie, a very famous atheist, on his show. Rushdie admitted that atheists are obsessed with religion. I thought that was relevant considering your question.

i believe that atheists are very spiritual ppl, at least the ones i've met. i think they don't believe in God or gods because they see life metaphysically (The branch of philosophy that examines the nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attribute, fact and value.)
in other words, they base their belief on what they can taste, touch, see, smell, hear, and contemplate on. to me that's a whole lot more than what alot of christians i know do.
in peace,

Some atheists did, and some did not :)
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
Cordially,
John
