If you are talking about sects just as the differences in Christianity, it is mostly small differences about a theological issue or two. Sadly, a lot of people (religious and non) HAVE to be right about things that don't really matter. In Christianity, what Christ did is pretty much the only thing we have to agree on (oversimplified, but I hope you get what I mean). Things like using instruments, predestination/free will, and what not isn't crucial, but for some it is important enough to break off.

I believe in the translation, or words, if a foreign person tried to explain something to you in broken...say English.....You would have to interpret that the best you can. When at the tower of Babel, when God changed the languages, someone had to be in charge of leading those people, so leaders were chosen. But later when tiring to prove to someone that you know more than he about god, things were misheard, misread, and wrongfully translated. Plus the Catholic Church who were and still are in charge of what goes and went into the Bible, changed and left out a few details, along with whole books and testimonies.
It is pretty much has to go along with old folk lore, before things were written, there were discusions and debates, and pretty much the debate went with the leader or the elder of the tribes.

PROBLEM: personal interpretation. The Catholic church had the authority to formulate interpretation for like 1000 years until people did the same..voila 30,000 christian denominations and growing!
"But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation.” 2 Peter 1:20
"but if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of truth"

The prophets had many admirers. They promoted one religion, the true one, but from their admirers came false doctrines.

For example, as outlined in "The DaVinci Code," (the one true part of the movie) the Roman emporer(s) merged Christianity with Paganism, to cater to both sides of the populace, and thus came about false holidays that aren't really Christian. I won't say which ones. I don't want to get on anyone's bad side, LOL.

Because of personality cults (many people follow individuals rather than being committed to really study and understand what the Bible is saying).

Cordially,

I have been looking at your questions to determine if were seriously inquiring or were you just one the baiters. I see that you are serious now.

It is man that has misinterpreted what GOD has set forward. It is not GOD that has made the error it is man who has erred.
