Generally speaking, that is the case, sometimes you may not realize you have a budding infection or something, but your body does.

However, if the swelling does not go down in a few days, you need to consult with a doctor to rule out more serious conditions.

Actually, we're going through something very similiar right now with my 5-year old daughter. She had swollen lymph nodes under her chin and near her jaw line. We took her to the pediatrician who said it was a bacterial infection in the lymph nodes (probably caused by a bug bite) and gave her an antibiotic to take for 10 days, tomorrow being the last day. The swelling has gone down considerably; however, there is still some swelling. I read on the internet that swollen lymph nodes can take as much as a month to go down completely, so while I'm going to update the doctor on her condition, I doubt they'll be overly concerned because there *has* been lots of progress.

This is just our experience with it. It could be anything or nothing at all. Still, you need to contact your doctor about it.

Good luck!

Heyy!! Don't worry at all. You just have a virus. I'm getting through one right now. Whenever you get a sore throat you can get swollen glands. (lymph nodes) Haven't you ever had those before? Its just a sign of a cold/virus. I have almost the same thing only it hurts when I swallow. Highest my temp has gone is only 101. I've had it for 3 days and I'm feeling pretty much better now. Ready to go out by tomorrow. Just get a lot of rest drink fluids and you should be fine. Dont worry about cancer at all. Highly unlikely. Though you should go to the doctor and have them check if it is the flu or strep throat. I went and I have neither, just a virus. So relax and you will eventually get better. =)

Your lymph nodes enlarge because you have some kind of infection and it could be very minor. My lymph nodes are very sensitive and they have gotten swollen from getting my ears pierced. Do you have any sores or cuts on your neck or face because that could cause them to swell if they are irritated or infected. Best thing to do is see your doctor because you might need antibiotics. Hope this helps.

It could possibly be allergies. Mine swell up behind my ears during the spring and early summer. Sometimes they swell so much I feel like Frankenstein with bolts sticking out of my head! I usually take over the counter allergy meds (Sudefed PE and Tylenol Allergy Sinus) and they will go down.

I have the same problem currently. I went to my dentis for the one under my jaw cuz i thought it was a mouth thing. My doctor (primary care) said that it can be an infection we dont realize we have and it can also be stress. he said not to worry... we are fighting off something... but id go and see your doctor to be sure

its not necessarily disease, they swell up anytime ur body is fighting a cold or infection. keep an eye on it, and it should go down within the week or sooner.

You might have an infected molar. How do you know it's your lymph gland, it might be your parotid gland. Mumps???
