Only if you pelt it at people. But no. If it wasn't nutritious, they wouldn't sell it in health food stores. Just too much dried fruit can increase your sugar levels. So eat it reasonably.

Dried fruit itself is fine for you, with a few qualifications.
1. Remember that each dried fruit has all the calories the of the original fruit!
2. If the fruit was mouldy or rotten before it was dried, it will have all that stuff still there afterwards, but you may not notice it.
3. Citric acid often is added to preserve the colour of the fruit. That's fine, but sometimes other chemicals are added too as preservatives etc. Also, insectacides, fungicides etc. must be washed off thorooughly before the drying process. KNOW YOUR SOURCE!

My experience with dried fruit is a fruit such as a raison where it is just a grape that has been dried out. Other fruits are dehydrated and sold on the commercial market the same way. I have never heard a bad thing about eating these fruits like this. They are just fruit with the water removed. Without the water they last longer. I don't believe much is lost along with the water and reports I have heard convey that they are a healthy snack for just about anyone unless you are on a restricted diet.

no, it's mostly good for you. but there are some things to watch out for:
1. most packaged dried fruit contains preservatives, such as sulfites. especially apricots, because it keeps them colourful. these sulfites aren't so good for you.

2. most packaged dried fruit contains vegetable oil, so that the fruit doesn't stick together. but what do you need all that oil for? it's only more fat!

3. because dried fruit is concentrated, it's too easy to eat a lot of it. there's an awful lot of energy (calories) in, say, ten apricots. you wouldn't eat that much fruit, but you might eat that much dried fruit.

Bottom line: look for all natural dried fruits with no oil or preservatives and don't eat too much of it.

Dried fruit is definitely nutritious, and you get the benefits of fiber, too. Sometimes too much benefit; don't eat too much or you'll get diarrhea. It can also be a little fattening because without the water, it feels like less. So you can eat too much sugar and calories that way. The "sulfur", it's really sulfites, someone mentioned is just to keep the color from going brown. This is only bad if you're sensitive to it and get headaches.

Bear in mind that you are getting the fiber of a whole fruit in one dried fruit. The only thing removed is the water.

Don't overestimate the spoilage time either.

Well it doesnt have all the benefits of jjuicy fruit. IT doesnt have the water content. But it has lots of fiber! Too much though and you will be sitting on the pot for a while! It is a natural laxative.
