The Bible was written by Man, through the Holy Spirit. The LORD put the thoughts into Man, on what HE wanted, just like HE gave Moses the Tablets in which the Ten Commandments were written on...

I wish you well..

Have you READ it? No doubt the product of human hands. But there is much of the divine in it....

BTW, a few answerers are making a circular argument:

"Of course the Bible was written by God. It says right here in (fill in the Scripture reference)...."

You're not going to convince many unbelievers with an argument like that, people.

Purely by man. God had nothing to do with it. If God meant the bible to be the direct word of God, untainted in any way he wouldn't have allowed different languages to developed (translations of the bible is only as good as the translator). And he would defintely not make it so open for interpretation (causing wars and suchlike).

Your question is interesting. As one of the others pointed out, writing it himself would be beneath him.

But wait, the first time he wrote the commandments, he wrote them himself! And didn't he say there, "Have no god before me?"

Hmmm, so God didn't need man to write the Bible, maybe God is lazy...but wait that would mean he is guilty of sloth.

NONONO...God has no sin. Man, this whole theology thing is confusing! Perhaps we need to quit looking for an external locus of control!

I heard somewhere, that the bible wasn't written for 100 years AFTER jesus died, so how the hell, can we believe what is in it, is true or fact, it could be a bunch of made-up stuff that some religious guys dreamt up, just to get us to give them our money when we go to church and pray.

neither, it was written by men who thought they knew what God wanted them to say. Paul was the worst culprit. the Torah is probably most factual, once you get past the part about how the world came to be, and adam and eve, since some of it has actually been proved.
