I go to a religious school and the only uptight peopel there were the lady in charge of dresscode, and the nun in charge of the attendance office. Both took their jobs way too seriously and, thankfully the dresscode lady left, but the nun still resides.
I consider myself religious, though the religion I currently am is not the one I prefer. Uptight? Everyone is stressed out at times, and my worries are mostly school related.
Don't tell me you get uptight around religious people. That would completely make my day.

A whole bunch are, but some aren't. I think it comes from most viewing their religion as an intellectual belief in God, and then following a to-do list which should appease their God. I think our stereotype of the uptight religious people has really come a lot from televangelists thumping their Bibles and telling everyone they are going to hell if they (sex, drugs, rock and roll....whatever is the flavor of the week for the sermon)

I'm far from uptight.
I work in a tattoo shop and I am a body piercer.
I go to Church on Sundays and study the Bible.
I pray daily and love to worship the Lord Jesus Christ.
I do find that I am judged by some of the Christian community for my tattoos, and piercings and weird coloured hair, but thats their problem, not mine. I know Jesus Christ will accept me for who I am. I am focused on the message of Christ, and not the judgement of a few of the more 'uptight' christians.
Just because a few of them may fall into that stereotype, it dosent mean that they are all like that.

I'd say they're just scared shi*less to think for themselves. People need to look for the truth regarding religion (power via mind control) by studying religions' pasts. Study each religion's dogma (and think why it is not reasonable or depends on stupidity and gullibility). Reflect on how it could have got root where it allegedly originated. Then get on the Internet and type in "lies of x religion."
Two glaring realities prove all religions are baloney: 1) non-believers have been threatened with eternal damnation to hellfire 2) non-believers have simply been (tortured and) killed for not being like everyone else who has submitted to mass hysteria. If the virtues of a given religion were self evident, why would people have ever had to have done these two things?

I would say many "religious" people are so. But the neat thing is Christianity isn't about "religion" it's about a relationship. A real relationship with Jesus Christ, God. It's not just a part of life, it is life. It's the best life and the only life. That doesn't bring uptightness at all man. It gives you something to let loose about. It gives you freedom.

I listen to rock music, have 3 tattoos, my nose is pierced, and I love to dance. And oh by the way, I'm a devout follower of Jesus Christ.

In my experience.....yes! Because if they act any other way, they face being JUDGED by the other members of their congregation! Ever heard the saying "lord, please protect me from your followers" ? It applies here!
