Why are you so damm ignorant. Most terrorists aren't Muslim and the Qur An doesn't preach violence. Jihad is a war against yourself. If you are a porker for example, you would try not to eat doughnuts because they pack on the pounds. That is you Jihad. There is no such thing as holy war. Christians were terrorists with the Crusades nd the inquisition. There are always extremists. Religion is interpreted in weirrd ways.

Most Muslims would insist that there's is a religion of peace. Most muslims I know are peaceful people.
However, the proof of the pudding is that most of the terrorism that is taking place in the world right now are being fought by men in the guise in the name of Islam.
Now when you see such a strong positive correlation, you must ask yourself the question of why this is.
Please, Muslim readers of this thread, I respect your views but you need to substantiate your views rather then just making statements without substance like "No" and "Islam is peaceful"
The fact is there are parts of the Quran that can be used by terrorist to justify their actions. There are parts of the Quran that call for the killing of innocent people. These are easy to find on the internet so I will not labour them here.
Now when such terrorism occurs, the problem is that the peaceful muslim community leaders are often slow to condemn such violence and the rest of the world do not see prominent muslim leaders standing up for a peaceful Islam. Who do we see? The crazed Iranian President, the Ayatollahs of the world calling for Jihad. When do we see a prominent Imam getting up on the world stage calling for peace and actually doing something like getting rid of the people they claim are putting bad light onto Islam? When this does not happen, you can't blame the non-muslims to thing that there is some hidden agenda that somehow the rest of the muslims support the terrorists.
Would some of our muslim readers please write something sensible and give us something objective to chew on?

Islamic extremist terrorism refers to acts of terrorism claimed by its supporters and practitioners to be in furtherance of the goals of Islam. The validity of an Islamic justification for these acts is contested by other Muslims. Islamic extremist violence is not synonymous with all terrorist activities committed by Muslims. Nationalists, separatists, and others in the Muslim world often derive inspiration from secular ideologies. These are not well described as either Islamic extremist or Islamist

During Muhammad's lifetime, many in Mecca resented Islam and its followers. The Meccans started attacking Medina to destroy the Islamic state, but the Muslims successfully fended off the attacks. Muslims finally attacked Mecca under the leadership of Mohammad after eight years of Hijra and took control of the city.
In March of 624, Muhammad led some three hundred warriors in a raid on a Meccan merchant caravan. The Meccans successfully defended the caravan and then decided to teach the Medinans a lesson. They sent a small army against Medina. On March 15, 624 near a place called Badr, the Meccans and the Muslims clashed. Though outnumbered more than three times (one thousand to three hundred) in the battle, the Muslims met with success, killing at least forty-five Meccans and taking seventy prisoners for ransom; only fourteen Muslims died. This marked the real beginning of Muslim military achievement.
Muhammad turned to raiding caravans bound for Mecca. Caravan-raiding was an old Arabian tradition and according to Watt was "a kind of sport rather than war"and that the object of the raids was to take animals and other goods but killing was carefully avoided. Muslims justified the raids by the Meccans' confiscation of the property they had left at Mecca and the state of war deemed to exist between the Meccans and the Muslims.
Under Muhammad's immediate successors, the Islamic empire expanded into Palestine, Syria, Mesopotamia, Persia, Egypt, North Africa, and Iberia.

Not at all.
The problem is the term 'terrorist'. 'Terrorist' is now the name given to ANYONE who actively opposes the American occupation of Iraq, and by extension, the Israeli claim to its land in the Middle East.
Of the people that feel this way, these branded 'terrorists', most come from the Islamic countries in the MIddle East. Religion plays a central part in many of their lives as it does in many Americans, so a struggle against the oppressors is, in many of their minds, a good versus evil battle with America playing the baddie.
Islam is a non-violent religion but, unfortunately, like all religions, has been used as a banner when justifying deplorable acts of violence.

No Islam does not teach violence. Terrorism does. There are many non muslim terrorists, you just don't hear about it as much in the media, because of what is going on with our world today. Do you remember the Unibomber? Non muslim. Or how bout the oklahoma city bombing? Non muslim. I would consider Christian groups that blow up abortion clinics terrorist, wouldnt you? There are flaws in the translation of religion, in every single group out there. Remember , God is Love .

This is a common misconception by many American or Northwestern folk. There are approx. 1 billion muslims worldwide and there an equal number of muslims whom you would call terrorists as there are christian or jewish terrorists. Remember this phrase, "most arabs are muslim, but most muslims are NOT arab. In Fact, a vast majority of Muslims are Asians and European, and North and South America are growing at an increasingly fast rate. In fact, Islam is the worlds fastest growing religion, not through birth but rather through converts to Islam. Yes, there are more people who convert to Islam than there are people who convert to Christianity or Judaism

You kids need to do some more--a LOT more--reading! There have been "terrorists" in all ages. Terrorists are usually people who are very, very committed to some belief or ideal, and they are usually bumping heads with a much stronger, larger adversary, Therefore, they resort to fighting a "war" their own way. Since so many nations have "the bomb", it would be foolish to fight openly against them. So "terrorists" resort to their "sneaky" ways, in hopes that enough people will be frightened by the randomness of the violence to "give in" to the demands, or whatever.
There are acts of terrorism is all of history, and certainly NOT all perpetrated by Muslims. (David Koresh, the US govt--the CIA, many African factions, the Jews, the Christians, the Catholics and the Protestants.........do your homework before you start parroting some of the godawful garbage that some of these hateful nuts on "Answers" spew.

I'm not precisly sure on what the Kuran teaches in regards to violence, however, I realize that what we see is terrorists from other countries coming at us when it is also a very real fact that there are men and women in our very own country that are plotting as well. I HAVE found, however, that due to the narrow mindedness of us Americans, we tend to assume that we have never, or would never plot such evil, and that only (low class society) would do such a thing.. like people from the Middle East.. Bear in mind I am NOT calling them lower class. I am saying that many Americans view us as being supreme.. So in answer to your question, we hear more about what "they" have done, because thats the way the government likes it as well as what people want to believe. We have extreamists here as well, sadly.. People who do not respect human life and kill for the sole reason of "making a point".... Women, children, ect... its very sad...

Dear madam;
I'm not a politician. but I'm a Muslim girl. these words & titles attributed to Muslims are being preached by western government politicians, since they know if the people of the world know what is Islam, there would not be any non-Muslim person on the earth. Our religion confirms all the prophets came befpre Islam and GOD says Islam is a completion & explanaion for what was siad to previous prophtes. (Surah Yunos, Aye 37)
As you look a person who just wants to know, I recommend you to read the biography of our prophet and some parts of Quran. then I'm sure you will change your mind.
The other point: who are you calling the terrorists??? Are the people attacking to Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Killing people in AbuGHOraib and their devil prisons MUSLIMS????????

NO. No religion teaches violence and terrorism. I don’t know why are some people here are being so mean to our religion.
It's very harmful to just take a few quotes from a religious text and think it relates to a whole religion.
Some Americans always see Muslims as base on Osama, Palestinians, Zerqawi etc.
Islam is a peace loving religion. Hope you learned something from my fellow Christians brother and sisters here.
